High School Students Opinionated About Recall
AKLAND -- If you listen to Oakland high school students, the historic recall election that will place actor Arnold Schwarzenegger in the governor's office was "a joke," "ridiculous," and "bull crap."

The day after the election, city high school students overwhelmingly opposed the recall of Gov. Gray Davis, only the second recall of a governor in U.S. history.

"The whole thing was a joke," said sophomore Diaka Fungula, 14. "Everybody voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger because he's a movie star."

Although they are too young to vote, many students expressed informed opinions about the election in teacher Patricia Arabia's 10th grade world cultures class at Mandela High School, a small school on the Fremont High campus focusing on human rights and social justice.

All of the roughly 32 students in the class said they would have voted against the recall. Only three said they would have cast ballots for Schwarzenegger.
"I would have voted for Davis," said Flora Oseguera, 15. "He was doing a lot, not just for Mexicans, but for immigrants."

4. Dropping down one level
I did a survey in one of my media production classes today (8th grade)

Question axed:

If Arnold had a movie out, and 'X' (aspiring actress in class)
were appearing in it, whose would you go see?

Survey says:

all boys for Arnold

all girls for the girl

3. Same thing at my HS in South Pasadena
Most of the kids here are against it and we make fun of Schwarzenegger. I reckon we compared him to Cher this afternoon (Botox).

5. So .... did Arnold really win the election?
I live here and I sure don't know anybody who voted for him.

Everybody I know feels exactly like these kids .....

So who the fuck voted for him? Where's the evidence, the real evidence, that people voted for him en masse?

We're all just trusting that it's so, we've swallowed it.

Sorry, I can't help but be suspicious. I'm not a tin foil hat kind of guy, but I live in the state and I sure didn't feel any upswelling or anger about any of this shit. It seemed like a joke to me.
