Kurds ready to declare war on Turkey

Kurds ready to declare war on Turkey

KADEK, the assembly for freedom and democracy in Kurdistan (former Kurdish workers party), has already deployed half its forces on Turkish territory in preparation for war. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced by Ielmaz Shiar, the official spokesman for KADEK in the Caucasus.

He said that Turkey has completely ignored all the peaceful proposals of the Kurdish party and as a result war is now almost inevitable. Mr Shiar said the war will be different this time. It will take place in Turkish cities and not in the mountains like before. He said the Kurds are not afraid to wage war as this time there are tens and even hundreds of thousands of people ready to fight.

Despite the US' declarations that it will defend Turkey from KADEK, Mr Shiar said he does not expect this to happen. 'The situation has changed and now the Kurds' relations with the US are just as close as those of Ankara,' he said. He also mentioned KADEK's relations with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdish democratic party. He said the country is now united and these former rivals are now ready to form an alliance. 'Our alliance is not just political but military as well,' he added.

Looks like the Kurds have been Busy :bounce:

And like US wants Turkey troops????? I'm so confused! Maybe they could be on the western side of Iraq and not be at war with the Kurds

28. They aren't going to do a damn thing except extory more money from
Bush. The bribery genie is the one that has been let out of the bottle and your children and their children and their children's children will be paying for it through the nose. America will become a second-rate nation over the next 30 years. Our streets will be far more dangerous, our respect for law enforecement in shambles, the courts will be totally useless, our so-called 'democracy' will be only a memory.

16. If this is true...
...it would accomplish something for ShrubCo: It would require all NATO nations to contribute troops to Iraq to defend Turkey, a fellow NATO member.

Of course it would also mean a war on Europe's doorstep. Ya wanna talk global recession now, or after you pick up your Lockheed-Martin and General Dynamics portfolios?

29. I think it's the opposite
The Kurds are a problem for the US. They were very handy to use about gassing attacks and such but most Iraqis hate the Kurds and it will be very difficult to form an Iraqi government with Kurds involved. Let Turkey take care of the problem and the US can use the excuse that NATO prevents us from coming to the Kurds aid. Kurds are gunna get fucked again by this administration as they did by Bush 1. We ghave them just enough arms and assistance to make them believe they were a strong force. It is all in the plan.

is going to be able to keep the chain reaction under control? Since we know he's totally dependent on someone else to tell him what to do, who'll be whispering in his ear? Dad, Rove, Cheney, Condi, Dick, Richard, Paul,or Colin?

He has created this mess and we knew that this war would have consequences....

Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 02:06 AM by Aidoneus
aside from the mysterious martyrdom of Ayatallah Sayyid al-Hakim (which, as my adjective would suggest, remains something of a mystery), Sunni/Shia hostilities have not been signifigant as yet, and it seems that in 'al-Sadr City' (the Shia areas of Baghdad), and to a lesser extent in Karbala and al-Basrah, some Shiites have been joining in resistance operations against the occupation force, though still on a small scale as late.

There's been a somewhat tense situation in the north between the al-Obeidi Arabs, Turkmen, and Kurds, however. There was a report in the Kurdish press that the Turkish government was reaching out to both the al-Obeidi Arabs & Iraqi Turkmen as allies against the Kurds--the latter would be well served by realizing taht the "south" Kurdish & "north" Kurdish interests are best served by uniting now before their enemies make the first move.

With the exception of the north, the potential for 'civil war' is reduced by the effect that the presence of the US/UK occupation forces, their lackeys in the so-called 'international community', and Iraqi collaborators, have in uniting the Iraqi people in general against them.

But on the bright side, Israel is helping along those 'freakout war'/'regional chaos'. Jeebus should be returning just in time to endorse W in the next fake election (October Surprise, you see). Nice list. :)

23. Do you see the viability of Iraq as a political state, longterm?
I'm of the opinion that the formation of Iraq and the relative peace between the various populations required a strong, maybe even ruthless leadership to maintain control. Can there be a democratic state in Iraq or will they break-up into territories along cultural majority lines?

I think our dim-witted President and his PNAC'cle buddies have this "democracy" template in their minds that reflects their version of our historical construct. I find it hard to believe that they can assume democracy will happen there on their terms.

What's interesting too is that Saddam and the Baathist Party had a lot of eerie similarities to the George and the current Republican Party. Seems to be just a matter of degree's in the methods to maintain power between the two...

33. Look at Tito's Yugoslavia for the future of Iraq
The notion of an independent Kurdistan is VERY disturbing to the Turks, which is going to be a long-term problem for the entire region.

And what's Iran going to do? Syria? Saudi Arabia?

The whole Middle East is a Pandora's box of the first order, requiring delicate careful treatment. Apparently no one explained the meaning to Dubya, who thinks it's some kind of Jack-in-the-box.

24. More on this...
U.S. State Secretary Colin Powell assured his colleague Abdullah Gul that they would warn the Kurd groups, that made statements against Turkey’s military presence in Iraq.

In the phone conversation between Gul and Powell following the adoption of the permit, Gul said that the statements of Kurd groups caused disturbance in the government, Joint Staff, and public opinion. Powel responded Gul by saying; I know. Kurd groups will be warned about their remarks on Turkish troops. Do not worry about that.

current WMW (URL below) or at www.Turkishpress.com or The Turkish Daily News...

Apparently, the Turks are still negotiating where they're supposed to be going. The US wants to put them in the South in one of the most dangerous places near Baghdad. The Turks prefer another area north of Baghdad. A key problem is getting the troops there since it passes through the Northern Kurdish areas.

From what I gather, the Turks are committed but things are not really finalized as to where they are going to be stationed....

The official line is that they are going in for "humanitarian reasons"....

One fascinating tidbit from the Turkishpress.com PRESS SCAN is this: that over and above the $8 billlion dollar loan (bribe) we gave Turkey, a Turkish official says we (the US) is PAYING FOR THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE TURKISH TROOPS.
