26. It just ain't going to happen.....
if he continues with his abusive, lying talk show. He can go to rehab every other month but it ain't going to get him sober if he does not change his behavior.

He can't do it...He continued to use even after he lost his hearing! He just does not have consequences which would motivate him enough. He has so many secondary gains from his show...it feeds his snake/disease.

Mark my words folks.....he'll tinker with the methadone and be right back at it.....then his wife will leave him if she has any sense and a good liberal divorce lawyer....

I'm enjoying this...... :)

I find those cheering the drug addiction of another to be sick, vindictive, petty little people. You are shameless asses to be rejoicing. Rush will probably end up being fine. I hope he that he is back on the air soon, just to spite the assholes who call themselves Democrats who are giddy over his situation. You make me sick. Compassionate? No, you people thrilled over this don't deserve to be called Democrats. You are acting more like Stalinists, seeking to stifle others speech and rejoicing at rivals misfortune. You make me ashamed to be a Democrat.

NOTE WELL: Above only intended for those happy about Rush Limbaugh's illness/drug addiction.

107. It's more than just "Rejoicing Over his Drug Use"
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 03:11 PM by LynneSin
And I'm a proud 'shameless ass' that is doing so.

Rush for decades has been hyping the hypocrisy about how drug legalization, especially for non-addictive drugs like marijuana, would only lead to the demoralization of our country.

Normally my heart goes out for anyone fighting a drug addiction. But Robert Downey Jr, Charlie Sheen and the countless other hollywood names who have noted run-ins with severe drug abuse did not spend hours on end on the radio preaching about the HORRORS of drug abuse and how anyone who uses is the scum of the earth WHILE they were strung out on the drugs of choice

This is no different then Mr Moral's himself Bill Bennett preaching family values while losing over $6million at the casinos.

Rush Limbaugh is a hypocrite and deserves every rejoicing comment posted here in this thread. I too pray that he can get clean from this highly addictive drug he is using, but I also pray that he learns what a hypocritical, racist, sexist bastard he is and uses his radio time to do good instead of creating hate!

Get off your high horses, your post is typical of something Rush Limbaugh would say.

I have never said that drug use is anything but an illness. Obviously it must be, and to those who impugn my Democratic credentials, I can point to three family members who currently, or in the past, have held elected office as Democrats. So piss off. I, unlike many others here do not take pleasure in the pain of others. I disagree vehemently with Rush, but I have never wished him ill, nor rejoiced at his illness. Where have the true Democrats gone, have we turned into a vindictive party? By the way, only to senior staff will I reveal the names of my relatives who hold office. However, I can tell you that one is Chief Judge of a circuit in Illinois, another is deceased Chief Judge and was a legislator in another area of Illinois, and that one is a city councilman in Ohio.

196. My 5th cousin is George W. Bush himself, does that give me the right....
to be indignant?

Rush spent 20 years creating hate and division. I have barely spoken to my brother (the one who figured out our connection to the Bush family through my Walker relatives) in over the past decade because my brother and his wife are diehard Rush fans who believe the crap that comes out of his mouth.

Rush spews HATE - whether it's sexism, racism, nationalism or just another opportunity to blame Clinton for whatever ails him it all sums up to one thing - HATE!!!

I hope Rush doesn't think 30 days in rehab is going to cure him of whatever ails him. He is addictive to a highly potent opiate drug that can be more powerful that heroin. Addicts can get themselves clean but they need therapy and ongoing support through a counsellor and NA/AA in order to keep clean. Maybe under the guise of an opiate haze he actually was able to spew the hate that he had on his show everyday. I'm hoping that he'll come to terms with the damage that he has done.

218. You make a good point, one that I had considered too. The hate
and the drugs are related. That's probably why his employer didn't fire him after he relapsed after the first and second rehab incidents--Rush was addicted to the narcotics, the narcotics produced the hate and paranoia, and the audience became addicted to the hate and paranoia.

His drug addiction actually made money for the EIB network!

Now it may well be that Rush was hateful and managed through the use of the narcotics; that could be true as well, but it doesn't get EIB off of the hook in profiting that way, either.

Think about it. Why on earth would any network allow a guy who relapsed on narcotics TWICE to keep broadcasting to so many people?

Edited on Sat Oct-11-03 02:31 PM by joeunderdog
No stretch to believe that Rush was extremely angry--frightened, perhaps--at the loss of control he felt over his addiction. He did a marvelous job of externalizing the problem and devaluing others with the same burden. Didn't get him off drugs, though.

Now, he's probably moving to the "dry drunk" phase where he will say alot of the right things, minimalize his responsibility, never really embrace the concepts of true sobriety, but will stay angry and blaming. What will be harder for Rush about coming truly clean and sober is that getting past that blame-and-anger mentality will mean shameless acceptance, poor ratings and, ultimately, rejecting the very persona that has made him so attractive to so many.

How sad.

Sort of reminds me of David Brock's plight in letting go of his anger, leaving the right wing behind and coming out of the closet. (Book: Blinded by the Right)

how we have progressed. Seems only yesterday you were calling Clinton a cokehead etc. The point is not the "drug taking." It's the hypocrisy. How long has Rush spewed the worst hatred and bigotry all the while talking about morals.

He is STILL not being honest. Read his statement. "prescription drugs?" <like he was Elvis or something & had 20 docs giving him pain killers>. Don't lie again Rush, NO doc was writing prescriptions, you were getting them on the black market. That's a crime you know? And remember, "when you do drugs, you help terrorists." Democrats have always been sympathetic to people who have drug related problems. We don't treat them as criminals. Rush has made huge bucks ($24MM a year?) to spread lies and divisiveness.

When are you people going to understand that he declared war against us and has been a big proponent of incarceration for people with less problems than he has?

What you refuse to accept is the truth....he was lying to you and the dittoheads that listen. He was doing exactly the same thing that he was telling his audience was so bad in others.

He deserves to reap what he has demanded of others on his show...jail time. He's a high paid, truth twisting , junkie lowlife.

His pain is that pinprick of a conscience that he has dull by consuming mass quantities of narcotics.

Like all the righteous, moralistic blowhards on the Right, he is a money making hypocrite...period.

247. Freepocracy
//Two reasons for the lack of sympathy. First, the vast majority of those in prison on drug charges took the drugs to get high, not because they had a pain problem. Second, most of them have robbed or mugged or hurt other people in their quest to get high.//

So at which link in the chain is theft not involved ? Pharmacuticals are subject to strict accounting ya knucklehead

//Hopefully Rush will see his way through this and Americans can re-evaluate the Drug War. Is Rush any different than a crack head on the Lower East Side or a junkie in Hell's Kitchen?
Since this story broke a week ago, I have been vilified for just suggesting that Rush might have a drug problem, that he might have bought narcotics illegally, that his hearing loss might have been caused by drug abuse, and that his stance in support of the War on Drugs might be hypocritical.
For saying that, posters here have called me a drug addict, a drunk, a liar, and a Democrat.
I wonder if they'll show up to apologize for slandering me now that they have been proven wrong?
Good luck, Rush, and get well soon.//

Use the Force, Luke!

----------
scramblin Freeps not on drugs:

Unfortunately, I agree this reminds me of the Bennet threads. Bennet laost his moral authority, and has not been taken seriously since. I fear this will also be true with Rush. I don't think Sean Hannity -- our best relief pitcher -- is up to replacing Rush. I think the biggest talent might be Laura Ingrahm, but she's probably not ready for national roll-out, either.
ANY junkie takes it to get high. You think Rush took 100 pills a day because he was in pain. Maybe at first. But once the drug takes over, it takes over, it becomes an end in itself, the end all be all.
My brother died at the age of 48 after long, long battles with addiction. I saw it first hand. You just don't know how awful a road Rush is on. Truly awful.
As for robbing and mugging. Right. A junkie will do ANYTHING, absolutely ANYTHING to get the drug. It's their Categorical Imperative, their Unbreakable law. //

//Rush is just LUCKY. He's already got the money to buy his drugs, loads of it. But he isn't any different at bottom from any other junkie. He is no longer in control of his life. He lives for a highly addictive drug. He can say that he wants to get off, but believe me it's a long road. Most junkies that I have known through the ugly journey of my dear brother -- who was a great guy, in his own right -- have to hit utter rock bottom before they turn their lives around. And many never do, it's an endless spiral into darkness.
the only difference between RUsh and the rest is his dough and his celebrity.
I hate to say this. the man has been through detox twice. he's lost his hearing. he will probably loss his show and his celebrity will be repalced by noteriety. He may end up in prison.
But you know what? that may not be enough.
You should have more and deeper sympathy for the down trodden who lack anything like Rush's resources. Many of them fight the good fight against this sort of thing a lose. Some survive. But it is truly horrible. Truly.
Have you ever seen the movie Requium for a Dream. It tells the honest story about what addiction is like.//

//His surgery pain is not an excuse, and if Rush meant it when he said he is not a victim
He says he's not a victim but uses the back surgery excuse at the same time? RB, if you are in recovery, you can smell that...
And he does not sound good on the radio today at all. He's wavering in and out of a buzz.
These are facts. Rush has verified some substance in the accuser's story.
Too bad.
Too human.
This is serious injury to conservative media credibility.//

I agree - the bile he puts out, from the mindset he occupies, probably will doom him to failure. His ego will probably not allow him to submit the way you have to when you REALLY admit and face the fact that you have a serious problem.

This man inspires a great deal of hatred and it's pretty much justified, but I hope he is able to overcome his addiction.

Having been addicted by doctor's cross medicating many years ago, I know what awaits him. It takes courage to admit the problem and stiff resolve to get healthy. It remains to be seen if he's got the guts to make it.

I wouldn't wish addiction on my worst enemy and I wish him luck.

159. I think these are the statements to be posting
"By legalizing drugs, all you're going to do is define further
deviancy downward. We have a duty to pass on values to our
descendants, values that will maintain the standards of behavior and
ensure the survivability of the American way of life. And drugs are
no different. You end up destroying more than yourself."
-- Rush Limbaugh Playboy interview, December 1993

"The problem with legalising drugs is it's another abbhorrent example
of human behavior that we've suddenly decided hey we can't handle it,
we've given up.

We're going to let you destroy your life. We're going to make it easy
and then all of us who accept the responsibilities of life and don't
destroy our lives on drugs, we'll pay for whatever messes you get
into."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec. 9, 1993

"I'm appalled at people who simply want to look at all this abhorrent
behavior and say people are going to do drugs anyway let's legalize
it. It's a dumb idea. It's a rotten idea and those who are for it are
purely 100 percent selfish."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec 9, 1993

"If(Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders) wants to legalize drugs, send the
people who want to do drugs to London and Zurich, and let's be rid of
them.
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec 9, 1993

"There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys
individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug
use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws
against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs.
And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in
societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if
people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused
and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with
drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many
whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to
this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because
we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer
is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict
them and send them up the river, too."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Oct. 5, 1995

207. Yup. Signing into a rehab is obviously his lawyer's advice ...
... not his doctor's advice. Publicly announcing it is also his lawyer's advice -- it's called damage control. Rush is a undoubtedly felony abuser. If he were black and poor, he'd be looking at 10 years.

Rush is going for his third strike. There's no way no how that 30 days in rehab will be enough. Six months would be marginal for a drug as addictive as oxycontin and an addiction that's gone on as long as 5 years or more. Rush is a hard-core addict. What few brain cells he has are turned to the "dark side" and he'll need far more personal discipline than he's ever com close to demonstaring.

hiding out in NYC hoping his lawyer could get them to drop charges. Now he's going to hideout in rehab for a short 30 days and hope that-will-be-that.

I don't think anyone should be able to write their own sentance for breaking laws that, if almost anyone else broke, would have landed then in state prison for 30 yrs. mandatory minimum.

14. I Will Never Cut Him Any Slack
Hi All,

For years Rush Limbaugh has inflicted his brand of hate and venom.

He has corrupted the minds of untold millions.

He has mocked our democracy and political process.

He has demonized and denigrated whole groups of Americans.

He has profited from the suffering of others.

He has squandered the public trust.

Is this man worthy of our sympathy?

I think not!

Feed him to the lions!

ones without a pot to piss in who've felt the full affect of Rush's "compassion" and his vision of our US criminal system.

You want me to feel bad for a $24mm/year junkie? Someone who has propped up the corrupt politics of the Republican Party? Someone who has provided cover for his political benfactors while destroying the reputations of good, honest Americans?

You "ProgressiveOne" have a lot of nerve to make your "holier than thou" post here. If you cared at all about progressive issues, you'd understand that this man has done more damage to Progressive, enlightened politics than any other person in this country.

Yeah, I want this blowhard to get clean....in prison where he so rightfully belongs. See my compassion?

although I cannot stand him I do wish him well. My mother and other some other relatives have had painkiller addictions and it all but destroyed their lives, families and nearly cost them everything. I wish this on nobody. As much as I loathe Rush, I hope he ends up ok in the end. Believe me, I still gloat a little over his ESPN mishap and it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see him do jail time were he to be found guilty, but I cannot in good conscience wish the torture of addiction on another human being. Well, it is a stretch calling him human but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. :)

Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 02:13 PM by w4rma
Not only does he not show compassion for others, but he actively tries to get folks to turn their hate on one another while spreading lies for the folks who pay him.

Many people are dead, or live worse than they should, throughout the world and the United States indirectly because of this man's propaganda.

Then Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” The disciples were astonished at these words. But again Jesus said to them, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:23-25)

Think about it - this thing came out late last week. He probably had about a 5-7 day stash of drugs. But now he's lost his main drug connection and he's been outed as a dopefiend. Probably got tough for him to get quantity of drug to keep him going ESPECIALLY if the cops had the goods on him.

He had to confess - going cold turkey on a major opiate addiction is NOT pleasant.

I'm trying VERY hard to feel SOME sympathy for this low-life, out of consideration for some of the posters here who've known people in rehab, or have been there, themselves (and I'm not meeting with much success, I might add). Their views are worthy of respect and honor. Neither of which Rush has earned, I'm afraid. One can only hope that this might humble him a little and teach him a thing or two about compassion and cruelty. But I won't hold my breath...

Which one of us is Liberty?

To: Cinnamon Girl

As a conservative who has known Rush for many years, I will only offer this: Rush does not abuse drugs of any sort and any rumors that he has are simply not true.

I have discussed at length over the past week the rumors and the press story and unfortunately for the Enquirer, Rush will ultimately be very wealthy and a news editor of sorts come 6 mos. from now.

The bottom line is that there is an agenda here, and we are trying to figure out exactly why and what we are dealing with.

Nice! That's remains to be seen!

However, despite what I have read here tonight, tomorrows show will have one striking revelation.

You're great! No consistency in message and simply willing to buy in.

I am not his therapist, but I do think Rush can make his own decisions on the subject.

Are you a listener? Have you ever spoken to the man? I am just curious as to the basis for why you are so adament that you are right. Your belief is that Rush abuses prescription drugs and has purchased them via a housekeeper for the past 10 years.

I am curious. . . Besides the Nat. Enquirer, what are your sources?

No gig here. Just a guy who knows the man and I guess has a reason to want to protect him.

Radio is a great thing and talk radio is an even more powerful thing. Rush has touched me personally over the years and to a certain degree taken on a "grandfatherly" quality.

I am just a little curious, would you lay down in the face of false accusations against your family, if someone was attacking with no regard to truth and consequence?

When allegations are proved to be false, what normally happens? People say things like "yes he got off, but is he really innocent?"

The bottom line is that my gig is that the accusation often times in larger than the actual TRUTH. People believe what they want and perception is reality.

Perhaps, I am taking a play out of your party's handbook in saying that if you repeat it enough it must be true. If the left is going to be slanderous, I am going to speak on his defense!

Interesting that he keeps calling them "prescription pain killers." The thing is, Rush didn't have a prescription. For him, that makes them "illegal drugs," no different than the smack any other junkie would buy on the street.

There is no separation, doing the drug IS the lie . It is IMPOSSIBLE to go through day to to day activities without lying to cover your ass. Secretivity is the name of the game, there are others that know your dirty little secret that you have to be honest with on some points, but every junky lies to their dealer, and every dealer lies to the junky....In the shuffle you lie to yourself. It s the nature of the beast, It's a line you cross to reach the dark side. There is no rehab for the lies....OH the Freeps will pray for their glorious leader to get well.

Oxycontin is synthetic heroin.

A 6 year drug addict is apparently INDISTINGUISHABLE from the average, sober hate radio personality. Rush has always been a hate radio GOP shill and Democrat attack dog, before and after the addiction.

What does this say about the conservative mindset? IMO, volumes. That is, assuming there aren't many other conservatives addicted to Oxycontin.

74. Oh please...
This is in response to all of the "well, you have to give him credit for admitting it" posts.

He admitted it for the same two reasons that Ahnuld admitted his illegal behavior:

1) It was the most politically effective to admit it. This is another typical conservative tactic: the general assumption, as bizarre as it is, is that the political thing would be to hide it, and that by admiting it, he is picking the moral thing over the political. And that's absolute bullshit. It appeals to the conservative crowd aching to show itself as "compassionate", contrary to their savage ideology. As I'm writing this, I'm hearing Bill Press on MSNBC saying "it takes a big man to admit he is wrong". Rush is clearly scoring political points by doing this.

2) Also connected to 1). He is simply cornered, too many people know about his problems, and there is too much proof out there that the problem is real. He simply has only two options -- to admit it and score moral points, or to hide it and be proven wrong. This wasn't a choice but a neessity.

Mahlzberg did all the usual blah blah-I've known him for years, he hasn't seemed right lately, knew he had problems yada, yada, yada. Then Malzberg sez-"At least he came out and admitted his problem, he didn't lie, he didn't SHAKE HIS FINGER IN OUR FACES AND SAY THAT HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, like some people I know and whose name I won't mention." If you know anything about this POS Malzberg, he never misses a chance to take a swipe at Clinton. He's revolting.

90. This guy needs to get honest with himself
I know because there have been people in my life I care for deeply who are also addicted. It slowly takes hold of a person, usually for legitimate reasons to begin with, and then it destroys lives, families, marriages and will eventually lead the addict down to the path of no return. Addicts left untreated end in three ways- prison, insanity, or death.
All the money in the world won't protect this man for the personal destruction he will face at the hands of his own addiction. Unfotunately, because of his lack of compassion or empathy for others, his narcissism is likely to continue beyond that of detox or whatever "treatment" he recieves. My condolences to his wife for putting up with this. If I were her, I'd take the settlement and run.
I have compassion for him on a human level, but I also recognize the ironic power of Karma.

I was expecting a long drawn out trial where Rush slurred rants about his innocence, and then have the trial turn out to be a sham with Rush getting probation and community service and continuing to slide downhill.

I wish him luck with his rehab. I refuse to wish something like an opiate addiction on even those I detest. Maybe he'll learn something from the addiction counselors in the next 30 days. I doubt it, anything is possible.

We'll be waiting when he comes out of rehab to see if he has.

Rush wish for drug addicts.

"There's nothing good about drug use," he was saying. "We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."

Unless they are "Compassionate Conservatives" then they need rehab and prayer.

Using other people as "mules" to insulate him from the law makes him even more reprehensible. He couldn't even take personal responsibility on acquiring illegal narcotics.

Wonder where that pain Rush suffers really comes from? I suspect that the under-developed part of the brain where the conscience resides may have required massive amounts of narcotics to mask the pangs of hypocrisy that he lived with.

You seem to be unaware of this country's laws. 4th Amendment protection is null and void in drug cases. Headrush was spending 100's of thousands on illegal narcotics and the ring that was selling was doing millions. In a poor neighborhood, they would have bashed down his door with a battering ram and tossed in a stun grenade. (This was done recently in the Bronx, but they had the wrong aprtment and killed a grandmother by mistake). Simply tape recording his huge opiate purchases does not "impede" his rights. Under the law, Headrush has NO rights. And these idiotic, expensive, counter-productive, Bill of Rights-shredding laws are the product of your right-wing pals.

Yes, It is sad Rush has an addiction. Yes, I wish him the best in overcoming his addiction and hopes he breaks through soon. I've known addicts and being an addict is a very tough life...one in which I wish on nobody, even my own worst enemies.

HOWEVER, Rush should get off the air. This, if anything, should show how dangerous it is to have someone who is addicted influencing policy the way he does. Also, I hope this sheds light into the hypocricy of Rush, his followers and the Republican Message in general.

What I fear is that if he goes back on the air, we'll have to deal with a 'dry drunk.' Bush is one of these. Those familiar with addiction know what I mean - the hate will ratchet up a knotch and he will spew even more hate.

Slap my hand, I wanna send an MP3 of "White Rabbit" to him in email.

Fatass won't go to prison. Jeb's daughter didn't for forging scrips and possessing crack. The whole system is fixed for rich white folks...just look at the differences in penalties for cocaine and crack possession. Rich white folks use cocaine, poor minorities use crack.

He'll get a slap on the hand and be back blowing gas on the air in 30 days.

An interview with:

RUSH LIMBAUGH

Q. How did your game go today?

RUSH LIMBAUGH: Well, this is the third day I've played this week, and it was -- this is nothing to write home about. Last four holes, maybe, I played like I'm capable of. But I was doing things today that I haven't done in two years, topping drives and a number of other things.

But it's good to get a round like this out of the system when it doesn't count. Makes the amateur partners feel really good. So it all turned out for the best.

I mean, my attitude is, I'm just grateful to be here. I'm not a golfer. Thank God I don't make my living at it, and I feel very lucky, very privileged just to be able to participate in something like this.

I have never heard him shed an ounce of sympathy for anyone else with an addiction, why should I spare a thought for him?

I remember him being less than complimentary when Jerry Garcia died while in rehab, why should I show sympathy for him?

I remember him belittling people he didn't agree with asking if they were on drugs, why should I show sympathy?

I wish he'd been arrested instead of given the opportunity to fess up, I would've rather seen a mugshot of the smug bastard.

I heard on WOWO that listeners could vote on the drug issue with Rush.

The Question:
Has his admission of being hooked on pain-killers caused you to like Rush less?
http://www.wowo.com/

Surprise Surprise Surprise
When I voted it was 80% saying it didn't make a difference. Gee I wonder why? Wouldn't most listeners be ditto-idiots no matter what?

230. This is What Rush Limbaugh Thinks About People Who use Drugs
October 11, 2003

This is What Rush Limbaugh Thinks About People Who use Drugs: And What the Faux President Thinks About the Demagogue Drug Addicted Populist

A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS

Part I: The Faux, Demagogue Drug Addicted Populist on Drug Users

"We're going to let you destroy your life. We're going to make it easy and then all of us who accept the responsibilities of life and don't destroy our lives on drugs, we'll pay for whatever messes you get into."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec. 9, 1993

"I'm appalled at people who simply want to look at all this abhorrent behavior and say people are going to do drugs anyway let's legalize it. It's a dumb idea. It's a rotten idea and those who are for it are purely 100 percent selfish."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec 9, 1993

"If (Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders) wants to legalize drugs, send the people who want to do drugs to London and Zurich, and let's be rid of them.
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec 9, 1993

"There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Oct. 5, 1995

if his descent into rehab is honest.

Programs of this sort require you recognize your addiction has poisoned your own life, and it has filled your relations with others with venom.

At the very least, I would like to see where he feels he needs to make amends, where he feels he has caused harm.

236. I'm NOT willing to give Rush any slack...
He and the holier than thou Republicans are the ones who mostly believe in throwing addicts in jail and tossing away the key rather than getting them treatment.

I went threw hell with Vicodin and other opiates (migraine treatment), so I know what prescription drug dependency is all about.

I wish I could feel sorry for Rush, but his hateful, visious rants about anyone who is not white and wealthy makes it impossible for me to find compassion. And I don't buy the argument that you first need to be hooked on a drug to understand that people need treatment, NOT jail.

Here's hoping that Ann Coulter, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson find Jesus in Oxycontin!

In the media they're called, 'Pain Killers' for GOP connected criminals. For Democrats, the poor, or any black/hispanic/Arab/Asian person they're called 'hard drugs'.

Can any murders/rapes be connected to Limbaugh's money he used to purchase the hard drugs?

This double standard eats away at the credibility of law enforcement like nothing else. It is a threat to national security in so many ways. Not only are blacks and other non-privileged subjected to the double standard, but the rich continue in their addiction and, by way of parenthesis, keep the drug trade going, and, by way of parenthesis, keep terrorism going according to that commercial linking the two. :grr:

Then when you throw in the CIA drug dealing......WHEW!

Pay attention to all of the shenannigans these guys were into, especially when one says he employs the other, when that's clearly not the case. There's also some strange factor about addresses, who lives where, and who owns what.

Then look at these mugs:

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/beshara1.html

If Rush was the guy responsible for the main support of these thugs (their "office," etc.), he could be in REAL trouble far beyond his own addiction.

264. King of rightwing radio addicted to 'hillbilly heroin'
The king of American talk-radio, Rush Limbaugh, stunned his 20 million conservative listeners yesterday by confessing on air to years of addiction to painkillers and declaring he had booked himself into a drug clinic for a month.

The confession came days after the tabloid revelations of a former maid who claimed she bought thousands of prescription pills on the black market for Mr Limbaugh, and the confirmation by the police near his Florida home that they were looking into an illegal drug ring.

The revelations sent shock waves through Middle America, where the talk-show host has been one of the most influential figures over the past decade, appealing to poor, angry whites with a mixture of conservative values and vehement loathing of the liberal "elites" that he claims dominate the east and west coasts and the national media.
