Gun law is contrary to Missouri constitution, judge says

-snip-

Ohmer based his ruling on the state constitutional provision that says the right to bear arms does not justify the right to carry concealed weapons. The 1945 state constitution makes the issue even more clear than the state's 1875 constitution, the judge said.

Ohmer said the plain meaning of the constitutional provision could be understood by a 10-year-old.

Schmid, of Manchester, said proponents of the new law have studied the issue and concluded "that we're on pretty strong constitutional ground.
