Has Rumsfeld Been Demoted?
Has Rumsfeld been demoted?

BBC correspondent in Colorado Springs

From the president downwards, the Bush administration has been on the counterattack this week over criticism of its Iraq policy. But Donald Rumsfeld, in many ways the chief spokesman on Iraq up to now has been noticeably absent.

Mr Rumsfeld was a key architect of the war in Iraq
Indeed, he appeared to get a slap in the political face with the news that the National Security Council (NSC) under Condoleezza Rice has established a new committee to oversee Iraq policy.

William Hartung, a senior fellow at the World Policy Institute, said that, not before time, President Bush was putting Mr Rumsfeld in his place.

"Possibly by putting Condoleezza Rice in charge of the Iraq policy, by giving Powell more input, this is at least the first attempt by Bush to try to inject at least a note of balance into this policy," he said.

Mr Rumsfeld has been playing the convivial host this week to Nato officials and ministers in the hallways of a luxury retreat in the mountains of Colorado......more

5. I saw this vulgar little man whining about how it cost him $60,000 to
place his $70 MILLION in a blind trust to become Suckratary of Defense. A less than than 1% fee to become king of the most dominate military in world history? Seems like a small price to me, unless your power is given to a woman half your age. Given his self-perceived masculinity, this must be what it feels like to be castrated! :toast:

9.  your math is off ...

If it cost $60,000 on a $70 million portfolio, it was less than one-tenth of 1 percent (0.1 percent) of his wealth. Thus, the whining and whimpering are 10 times more disgraceful than previously believed.

4. I heard a news report last week, on an NPR station
that Rummy and Colin (more input? HA!) are history. Or won't be around "in the event" of a Bu$h re-election (er, election).

Putting Condi in charge of post-war Eye-Rack is supposedly the writing on the wall.

Blaming Rumsfeld for not capturing Saddam.

I love it when the weasels start eating their own.

Poor Rummy, must have lost his sex appeal.
