Britain to crack down on hooligans - antisocials
London — The government said Tuesday it will target hooligans, abusive neighbours and other social problems in a countrywide campaign.

Home Secretary David Blunkett, responsible for law and order, said the government was seeking a major change in the attitudes of local government and police toward people whose behaviour is antisocial.

"There is no longer any excuse for public services not to listen to victims," he told the national news agency Press Association, outlining the new strategy before its launch later Tuesday.

"The government is determined to tackle the scourge of antisocial behaviour, which is spreading fear through your community and holding back prosperity," he said.

1. Last time a cabinet member spoke 'ex-Cathedra' on this subject
it was Blair (tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime....) who said police should arrest drunken yobs, fine them one hundred pounds minimum on the spot, and then march them down to the nearest cash machine to pay the fine.........until someone pointed out that most drunks can't remember the way home, let alone some goddam four digit pin number......

A week or so later, young Euan Blair, aged 17/18, was found lying face down in a pool of his own bodily liquids, drunk as a skunk, in London's Leicester Square, after a night on the tiles with some chums who'd just sat their final school exams.......

Not a squeak out of Pater in public about 'spot fines'......

Perhaps this is a 'sweetener' story because some party apparatchik's offspring is about to get busted, again.....
