Blast at Turkish embassy in Iraq

An explosion has been reported outside the Turkish embassy in Baghdad.

Tukey's Anatolia news agency said it was caused by a suicide attack.

Two embassy employees are reported to have been wounded.

The incident comes a week after the Turkish parliament approved plans to send peacekeeping troops into Iraq - a move opposed by some members of the Iraqi Governing Council.

Suicide blast hits near Turkish Embassy in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A suicide car bomb detonated Tuesday afternoon near the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad, Iraqi police said.

Witnesses told CNN that two people were killed, including the bomber, and eight others wounded. But U.S.-led coalition military officials only confirmed two people were wounded.

The military officials said that the bomb went off about 500 meters (550 yards) behind the embassy and most of the explosion was absorbed by walls erected around the embassy.
