'Stars and Stripes' to Launch Weekly U.S. Edition (inside daily papers)
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001050578

... The daily newspaper for the U.S. armed forces stationed oversees is launching a product that will be made available as a weekly supplement to U.S. newspapers. Think of it as the military version of Parade magazine.

"With the transition of U.S. military going on missions and training, we felt it was important to get our information stateside," said Dan Krause, international advertising director of Stars and Stripes.

Naturally, the paper is setting its sights on publishers near military bases. But Krause declined to name any papers that had agreed to run the publication as of yet.

... Star and Stripes is owned and operated by the Department of Defense (DOD). Krause emphasized that it's not the house organ of the DOD; rather, the paper is editorially independent and can call on Congress should there be any interference.

1. I bet we get it here...White Sands, Ft. Bliss nearby....
we already get a couple of the crappiest "magazines" you can imagine.
Right next to the happy face health articles, they publish recipes from
Knuckledrag that have enough fat to make a pound of butter pale by comparison...

The letters section is not pro-Pentagon. Letters from active servicemen often point out waste, mismanagement, and mistakes.

3. Ambrosia!
Enough is enough.

"My feeling is that you're patriotic about America if you're obsessed with America because it's a democracy, and its obligation is to improve all the time, not to stop and take bows and smell its armpits and say 'Ambrosia!'"

6. 95% of the articles are definitely hearts and flowers
in the midst of a failed invasion, but they do allow an outlet in the letters section. That's the section some here may want to contribute to.

10. Why don't they just reset everyone's home page?
Every bit as subtle, and much cheaper in spreading the national Gospel of Redemptive Violence.
