Bush tells Koizumi U.N. is old and should be reformed

TOKYO — U.S. President George Bush told Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi over dinner Friday night that the United Nations is "old" and its structure should be reformed, according to a senior Japanese foreign ministry official.

Bush made the comment after Koizumi asked him to "consider making better use of the United Nations" to spread America's ideals of freedom and democracy, the official told reporters.

Bush would love to "restructure" the UN so that Japan has the token Asian seat instead of China.

Doubt it will happen. And it shouldn't happen.

9. Why not just change the name to US Department of International Resources

The only people who see the UN as a separate entity from the US won't notice the change, or if they do, won't see it as anything unusual, and most of the world doesn't give a shit what the US wants to call its various departments.
