Use of dubious tip points to clash between CIA, Iraq war supporters
http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/nation/7046008.htm

As the Bush administration intensified the hunt for evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the CIA reluctantly agreed to look into reports from a previously discredited source that highly enriched uranium for nuclear weapons was smuggled from Iraq to Iran, U.S. officials said.

The reports of the uranium transfer could not be verified, the officials said last week. The incident appears to be an example of supporters of President Bush's policy on Iraq clashing with the CIA over claims that the intelligence agency did not believe could be substantiated.

The smuggling reports were relayed by Manucher Ghorbanifar, an Iranian exile who maintains ties to neoconservatives inside and outside the U.S. government. Michael Ledeen, a National Security Council consultant during the Reagan administration and a longtime Ghorbanifar associate, recently pressed Ghorbanifar's information on the administration, the officials said. Ghorbanifar and Ledeen advocate the overthrow of the Iranian government.

Lots of great info in this article....

8. Richard Armitage provision of weapons and war materiel
Another key player in the Bush Administration, Deputy Secretary of Defense Richard
Armitage, left his post as an Assistant Secretary of Defense in the Reagan
Administration after a series of scandals connected to CIA operatives Ed Wilson, Ted
Shackley, Richard Secord and Tom Clines placed him at the brink of criminal indictment
and jail. Shackley and Secord are veterans of Vietnam operations and have long been
linked to opium/heroin smuggling. The Armitage scandals all focused on the illegal
provision of weapons and war materiel to potential or actual enemies of the U.S. and to
the Contras in Central America.

5. Apparently not!
Isn't it too bad that Bush can not be impeached for gross incompetence?

12. Ya, exactly what is the statement made by this country when
you can be impeached for a blow job (and lying about this personal issue), but not for incompetence lying about international and national issues, cheating, fraud, stealing and such?

What is the message? Wait, I think I've got it..

Anything is okay. The end justifies the means, but we will NOT have anything related to SEX or sexuality PERIOD...end of discussion!

Puritanical, bigoted, hypocritical thieves!

17. It is so frustrating!
I think that part of the problem is that Clinton's scandal is easier for people to understand than Bush's scandals. Unfortunately, the news media does not even try to provide Americans with important information about what is happening in the U.S. or the world. Instead we are bombarded with coverage of sex scandals and sensational trials. I often wonder if we ever would have heard about "Watergate" if CNN, Fox, and MSNBC existed during the Nixon administration.

librechik, but I don't have them at my disposal. Everyone, hell even DUers, know that he isn't worth his weight in anything...even dustbunnies.

15. Absolutely true, but the key word is "told"...
Tenet, and by default the CIA, was never told about Ghorbanifar's involvement in the latest attempt by the NeoCon's to push the U. S. into another country in the Middle East. But, that doesn't mean the CIA had no knowledge of Ghorbanifar's activities in regards to his dealings with the NeoCons. The fact that Ghorbanifar was placed on a CIA "burn list" tells me that his every move has been watched by the CIA, along with the movements of all of those people associated with him.

Don't forget that the CIA, because of the Wilson-Plame Affair, is now engaged in a war to bring down the Bushies. This is just another salvo fired by the CIA in that war. The recent articles in the mainstream press about Prescott Bush's financial dealings with the Nazis is another of those attacks. George Bush's presence in Ft. Worth and Dallas, Texas, on November 21/22, 1963, is another one. And they haven't even gotten started on Junior. There is quite a bit more information on the Bushies locked away in the CIA's vaults...we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg.

The last two presidents to attempt to do battle with the CIA did not survive their current terms in office...JFK in 1963, and Nixon in 1974.

believe a report that Saddam and Osama are hiding out in the Invisible Islamic Mothership floating over the North Pole.

Truth doesn't seem to matter.
