Bush momentarily beaten by his own security arrangements: Thai official

BANGKOK (AFP) - Security arrangements surrounding US President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s visit to Thailand to attend the APEC (news - web sites) summit have been so extraordinarily tight that even the president was tripped up by them.


As 20 APEC leaders arrived in 60-second intervals at Government House to greet Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and head into their first retreat, Thai security officials were on hand to open their car doors.


But when a US official specially designated to open Bush's door attempted to let him out, she found his door was firmly locked, a source who was involved in coordinating the leaders' arrival told AFP.


"The official could not open the door so President Bush quickly shuffled across to the other side of the car and let himself out," she said.

Bush is a coward. He proved it during Vietnam, and he is proving it again during his presidency. He is not only afradid for his own skin but he is proving himself to be a moral coward as well by avoiding any instance where he might find himself, or his policies, questioned.

I think Jesus may have had bodyguards. Isn't there a story in the Bible (I'm not religious), about when Jesus was arrested, that Peter cut off the ear of a soldier? My memory of the story tells me that there was a bit of a skirmish, which I always thought was weird. Jesus and the disciples carrying swords under their robes or something?

Why shuffle across to the other door? Was there a kiddie lock on it or something? Talk about brilliant security, the door he was supposed to get out of was locked, but the door facing the open road was not?

There is somthing decidedly strange about this. Perhaps the original thought was that the car would pull up with the other door facing the curb, but this was changed at the last moment and no-one thought to unlock the now "in use" door?
