Putin will ratify Kyoto Protocol, says Chretien
BANGKOK — Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed his intention to implement the Kyoto accord in a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Jean Chretien on Monday.

"He (Putin) said to me that he intended to implement Kyoto," Chretien told Canadian journalists gathered at the Asia-Pacific summit.

"He has some negotiation going on at this time on some elements of it. But it is the intention of his government to implement Kyoto."

Canada has already ratified the agreement and Chretien said he's convinced that his Russian ally would follow suit.

3. Only last week the Russian government was mocking Kyoto's science
Many assumed the Russian reluctance to proceed with Kyoto was to force additional economic and political concessions from the EU. It will be interesting to see what, if any, inducements were offered to Putin.

7. Many of those hundreds of Scientists were Russian
Literally the entire world scientific community advocated for the Kyoto accords. Only a few "scientists" those employed by the oil industry have doubts to the conclusions drawn by the vast majority of the scientific community.
