Wackenhut denies its employees are CIA agents plotting to overthrow Venezuela's Chavez

A Florida company accused of working with dissidents to overthrow the Venezuelan government rejected on Saturday videotape evidence allegedly linking them to subversive activities.

The Venezuelan unit of Florida-based security company Wackenhut denied that the video - presented Wednesday by legislators allied with President Hugo Chavez - showed CIA agents advising Venezuelans in June on how to destabilize the country later this year.

"The video was in reality filmed in the installations of Wackenhut Venezolana, C.A in September 2002 during an ordinary meeting of company officials, relating to security services offered to a client," the company said in an ad placed in El Nacional newspaper.

A spokeswoman for the Palm Beach Gardens-based company did not immediately return a phone call Saturday.

Ruling party lawmaker Nicolas Maduro claimed the three men in the video were U.S. secret agents training dissident military officers and municipal police in espionage and "terrorist" tactics.

The U.S. Embassy said the video showed an event held by a private security company, not CIA agents. It added that the U.S. government did not participate in the event. (snip/...)

I suggested this possibility a few days ago on another Venezuela topic. If Wackenhut is exposed this could get real exciting. The US Congress may have an easier time investigating them than trying to get the CIA to open up. At least it will give the Bushies another hemmorroid trying to cover it up, hee, hee.

Wackenhut was active in the 80's with Inslaw and the Indio Indian Reservation in CA and fuel air explosive scandal, etc. that remained a cover-up.

The book "Octopus" by Jim Keith gets into this. Keith was investigating Danny Casolaro's death and, (((coincidently))), died under mysterious circumstances in the process. He broke his leg in a skiing accident and died in the hospital from what I remember.

What is even more weird is that Attorney Paul Wilcher who was going to expose the October Surprise wrote a letter to Att. General Janet Reno saying he had a tape that would prove his case. He was found dead in his apartment 3 weeks later and his body was also embalmed before the family was consulted.

PROMIS was fiddled with for many months in Lake County, Ohio, under the elected service of County Auditor Kathleen Cotter(D) by staff member John Whipple. Campaign contributions were solicited at work from county employees on behalf of her 1986 campaign. (How naughty) A C-note was considered to be the adequate, if minimal, contribution in this community under party boss, Mr. Mastroangelo (deceased). Alas, it was not enough for the incumbent to remain in office.

My source reports that the County Commissioners obtained trial use(?) of the PROMIS software, but at the time it was unclear to the source whether the software had been purchased or leased to the County or indeed by/from whom. According to a staff member, PROMIS and the county computer interface were a "bubble off" and required much modification for effective use. The terms of the deal itself, it seems, were hidden from view beneath a legal "blue cover" on what appeared to be some portion of the arrangement/contract documnt to which the source had access for only a short time.

The source tells me that he was asked to apply pressure, go to Columbus, Ohio Civil Service Commission, to attack yet another staff member's continued employment under civil service (what for?). Indeed, it is possible that the source was most likely appointed only for this purpose by a "scheme" connived between the commissioners and/or with the auditor and a local Willoughby Deputy Registrar.

Mr. Gordon Lavar, who also served as the rep of a local employment recruiter, felt free to tamper with the applicant's resume to obtain the desired end, only informing the source after the fact of the "appointment," which the source came to learn was outside the reach of civil service complaints/rules or the ORC. (Gee, wonder to whom the fee was actually paid? or where the amount of the fee actually ended up?")

At the time, a Canadian, Jim Carne (pseudonym?), was Director of Lake County IT. He had a brother working in another state, Texas(?), and Mr. C was being afforded unsupervised late-night access to the county computer system for "development" purposes. (It's interesting that somewhere along in this drama, it is alleged that the Royal Canadian Mounties purchased said PROMIS, and M. Risconiscuito indicated that the Israeli's got copies too - Early PNAC/BFEE at work????)

As an assistant supervisor, before the source could "go to Columbus" he wanted to sort out the staff member's (Bob T.) misdeeds up close and personal, but the source was injured in a head-on car accident(?) on Veteran's Day following the election that totalled his vehicle (the other driver cited), and needed to take time off w/doctor's excuse (about one week).

The source was subsequently pinked through "closed-session" commissioner meetings to discuss "personnel." The source was forbidden from attending the meeting and forbidden to send a legal representative to these "secret" meetings. (DUE PROCESS! - None available under ORC or Civil Service outside the State Commission). FOIA had not yet been enacted, and the source contacted several attorneys who laughed a lot and sent him packing. Finally, one employment attorney suggested that only a Federal suit could be brought for a large retainder. (No employment, no money, no suit--and that was many years ago).

Indeed a lawyer, now Probate Judge Klammer, was contacted by the source on the personal recommendation from a "friend" as being someone with ties to the commissioners,(now mostly deceased). After an election in which Ms. Cotter was succeeded by Mr. Zupancic, the source was assured that a "re-hire" was "possible" but was also told to "not leave town." Alarmed by this second infringement on the right to freely travel (another Bill of Rights issue), the source promptly headed out-of-state with the family to warmer climes away from the constant stress of yet another period "on the bench." The unspent portion of the source's salary amazingly enough was the same amount of "new" county funds available to fund the spanking new Sexual Abuse Center. The source attended the new auditor's swearing-in/reception in the spring of the New Year, and was summarily told there would be no reinstatement.

The source also tells me that a neighbor, employed in the past, as the narc and investigator for the county prosecutor, John Savage(?), (one of the assistant pros's then was Rep. LaTourette), was a security supervisor at a certain facility that circumscribed itself in a 10-mile zone of danger. The spouse's relatives from Indiana also had long-time security ties. This energy facility has sole secure access to a portion of coastline Lake Erie and from there to the St. Lawrence Seaway, to Canada, and beyond, and it purports to assure the highest security measures available. That individual had the balls to turn in his own grandma, if necessary, and was known to make "demo" bombs in the family rec room for instructional purposes. He'd also been sent to Quantico VA for long periods of "training" in hypnotism (what's that all about?-someone else can put those dots together!) Also nearby, a small airport, Casement, affords quick access to the rural countryside. Located near the county seat, it is utilized mainly by "small planes" and had minimal security at the time. (It's interesting to note that the Iran-Contra testimonies identified pilots who did "running" from small Midwest airports.)

The source also reports that a small blurb in a Trader Times-like newsletter gave an address for a certain Lake Resources Inc. (Probably not tooooo....unusual in Lake County, huh?) The source, by this time freaked out, does not remember the address, but does remember checking it out. A medium sized pole barn, long gone, well set back off a lonely county road. (Now what does one suppose was stored in that?)

Eventually, the source re-located for a contract at a well-known BIG government contractor, et. al. and since then, to be corporately relocated, downsized, merged, outsourced. Over the Carter/Bush/Reagun/Clinton/Bush years, the source, now well over 40 and a Viet Nam era vet with loads of experience and Y2K atta-boys, has trickled down and will soon be homeless, innocently or not, touched by the Octopus!

Since Halloween is near, it's only appropriate to say it's even more scary though hopefully only serendipitous and a triumph of greater love. The source's son-in-law is a not-so-distant, wrong-side-of-the-family, relative of ex El Presidente Aleman of, you guessed it, Nicaragua! Has Justice prevailed?

The source says the "fat lady hasn't yet sung" and too many are now beyond the pale.

Of course, all of what it is just crazy Tin Foil tinkering away, one might say "gaslighted" (is that a crime?), into someone's "Beautiful Mind."

The Wackenhut Security Corporation of Miami, Florida, has long been suspected of being a CIA front. The right-wing politics of George Wackenhut, who had ties to Belgian fascists and South American death squads, are well known. But few people realize that Wackenhut, a small company with "only a few" employees, gets some choice assignments, including guarding nuclear reactors, nuclear weapons facilities, the Alaskan Oil pipeline, and several American embassies; or that its board of directors contains several luminaries from the FBI, CIA, and Army Intelligence, including Bobby Ray Inman. Wackenhut has led a covert crusade against whistleblowers at many nuclear power plants, using wiretaps to eavesdrop on them and various 'subtle' techniques to convince them not to talk; it also spied on Chuck Hamel, a critic of the Aleyska Oil Consortium's drilling policies, by setting up a fake environmental-law firm which sought to "pump" him for his sources. Wackenhut may have even used some operatives to try and help topple President Perez of Venezuela through a (failed) military coup, largely for money (rather than politics) it was given by Blanca Ibanez, the mistress of Jaime Luinschi, the former president.

Also, a Wackenhut employee named Ernesto Bermudez was using 1500 'employees' in El Salvador for things he admitted "you wouldn't want your mother to know about" to a reporter from Spy magazine. Candian PM Pierre Trudeau refused to allow Wackenhut to purchase a weapons-propellant plant in Quebec, and it was refused a permit to open a security facility in France because President Francois Mitterand said "we had just gotten rid of the CIA." Wackenhut maintained files on over 4 million suspected 'subversives' of all types, including civil rights activists and antiwar protesters, well into the 1960s, making it the largest private holder of such information. In 1975, after a Congressional investigation into domestic intelligence operations and connections to private firms, Wackenhut turned its files over to the Anti-Communist Church League of America based in Wheaton, Illinois, which is now defunct. Florida Governor Claude Kirk claims to have worked closely with Wackenhut to "fight organized crime," although insiders maintain they were doing anything but fighting the Mob.

But there are direct links between Wackenhut and the 'Octopus'. It appears that Michael Riconsciuto, a convicted drug dealer, claims to have met with George Wackenhut, John Amarell (of Wackenhut's Executive Board), and Dr. John Philip Nichols (a CIA operative conducting shady activities on the Cabazon Indian Reservation in the California desert) in Las Vegas in the early 80s to discuss the theft of Inslaw's PROMIS software; he says Wackenhut asked him "how his software work was coming along." (Supposedly, Nichols was using the Cabazon reservation as his own private munitions proving ground, testing things ranging from super-lethal Fuel-Air Explosives and chemical-biological weapons to Electromagnetic Pulse generators.) Ammarell confirms the meeting, but claims it was merely about the sale of a boat! Retired general Richard Secord arranged for the Wackenhut Corp. to work with Iraqi arms dealer Ihsan Barbouti; Wackenhut operative David Ramirez claims that he and Barbouti rode in a truck carrying chemical-weapons technology from Texas to Chicago, and then rode on a plane to Iraq. Ramirez indicates that he thinks Wackenhut may have been part of a "food stamp" scheme to get agricultural credits for Iraq which were in turn used to purchase nuclear-weapons technology, making Wackenhut part of the Iraqgate affair as well.

Years ago I was digging into the Casolaro death. Two people: Freddy Alvarez (a Native American)and Michael Riconosciuto were involved with the Cabazon Indian Reservation activities. The former was murdered after an attempt to nail him with trumped up drug charges failed. His murder was gruesome. Mike Ricon claims to have doctored the Promis Software, which is another story, but he also was slapped with trumped up drug charges and is still in jail. People who worked on his case to expose the BS also died. Hitting someone with trumped up drug charges is a standard MO for getting rid of the unwanted in the intelligence community.

That is why I believe Vreeland's drug, credit card fraud charges could be bogus as well. We haven't heard the last on Vreeland.

Looks like a ton of material to assimilate. I've heard of these guys for years, also in connection to the Bushes.

It operated Europe’s largest immigration detention centre at Yarl’s Wood in Bedfordshire, England which was closed after being virtually destroyed by fire in February 2002. Firefighters complained that Group 4 had grossly inadequate safety measures and had impeded them from reaching the scene of the blaze.

Fire Brigades Union General Secretary, Andy Gilchrist criticised Group 4 for treating asylum seekers as “second class citizens” by putting “private profit before the lives of asylum seekers. Group 4 flatly refused to put a sprinkler system into these premises to cut their costs”. With last year’s takeover it is now the largest detention contractor in the UK.

In her book “Open Borders: The case against immigration controls” (Pluto, London, 2000), Teresa Hayter documents the poor conditions, inadequate medical facilities, punitive and racist treatment and lack of accountability that characterised the regime at Group 4’s Campsfield House near Oxford. So much for principles. More detentions and more cost-cutting mean bigger profits for companies like Group 4.

Many of those detained under Australia’s mandatory detention policy are from the Middle East. So let us not forget how, late last year, British and Danish journalists exposed the activities of Hashmira, a leading Israeli security firm in which Group 4 had bought a 50 percent share.

The merged company has been catapulted into the headlines again with a fire at its Yarl's Wood immigration detention centre in the UK.

Group 4 Falck was running the centre, which only opened last November, under contract to the Home Office.

The 900-bed facility is the largest in Europe and housed many refugees who had their applications to stay in the UK turned down.

They sit there in different parts of the parking lot in their little Geo type 4x4 with yellow beacons flashing. I thought it peculiar, because Sioux Falls has always had it's own local merchant patrols scooting about town late at night.

Wackenhut also had the contract to provide checkpoint security at Boston's Logan Airport on 9/11.

An asylum seeker from Iraq is filing a claim for damages on behalf of her 5 year old daughter against Australian Correctional Institutions,a Wackenhut subsidiary that manages detention centres.

The little girl has been psychologically damaged from abuse and from witnessing suicide attempts by other inmates.

The dentention centres contain whole familes of mostly Iraqi & Afghani families, sometimes for years on end, who have fled their countrys, despite Coward Howard claiming they are not genuine, and now claiming he assisted in the bombing of those countries because they were not safe for the general public.

"General" JULIUS W. BECTON, JR.

General Becton's most recent position was Chief Executive
Officer/Superintendent of the Washington, D.C. Public School System.
He is also a former President of Prairie View A&M University. He
entered the Army as a Private in 1944 and rose to the rank of
Lieutenant General. While in the Army, he commanded the lst Cavalry
Division and the VII Corps, and was the Deputy Commanding General of
the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. He is a veteran of three
wars, World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. After departing the
service in 1983, he served as Director of the Office of U.S. Foreign
Disaster Assistance, and from 1985 to 1989 was the Director, Federal
Emergency Management Agency. He was later Chief Operating Officer for
American Coastal Industries, Inc. He is on the Board of Directors of
General Dynamics Corporation. He is a Member of the American Battle
Monuments Commission. He is trustee of the George C. Marshall
Foundation and the Florida A&M University Board as well as several
civic public service organizations. He received numerous U.S. Army
service and valor awards, including the Distinguished Service Medal;
and the Distinguished Service Award for his service as Director,
Federal Emergency Management Agency. He has a BS from Prairie View
A&M University, an MA in Economics from the University of Maryland,
and has been awarded honorary Doctor of Law degrees by four
universities.

ALAN B. BERNSTEIN
Mr. Bernstein has been Chief Operating Officer since March, 2000 and
has been Executive Vice President of the Corporation since 1991, and
is also President of the Corporation's Global Security Group. Mr.
Bernstein has been with the Corporation since 1976, except for a
period in 1982 when he was a partner in a family-owned security alarm
business in New York State. He was appointed President, Wackenhut
Systems Corporation in 1983, and subsequently was named Vice
President, Corporate Business Development in 1984; Vice President,
Domestic Operations in 1985; and was Senior Vice President, Domestic
Operations from 1986-91. He also serves on the Boards of several
subsidiaries of the Corporation. He is a member of the American
Society for Industrial Security. He has a B.S.E.E. degree from the
University of Rochester, and an M.B.A. degree from Cornell
University.

CARROLL A. CAMPBELL, JR.
Governor Campbell served two terms as the Governor of South Carolina,
and four terms representing South Carolina's fourth district in the
U.S. House of Representatives (1979-86). He also served in the South
Carolina House of Representatives (1970-74) and was elected to the
South Carolina Senate in 1976. While serving as Governor, he was also
Chairman of the National Governors Association (1993-94) and co-chair
of the National Governors Association Task Force on Education. He is
recognized as a leader in promoting initiatives for excellence in
education at the state and national levels, and has served as
chairman of the National Education Goals Panel and co-chair of the
National Council on Education Standards and Testing. Governor
Campbell is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of
the American Council of Life Insurance. His business career began
at age 19, when he co-founded a business which eventually developed a
chain of 13 restaurants. He remains active today in several small
business enterprises and serves on the Board of Directors for the
Fluor Corporation, AVX Corporation, Norfolk Southern Corporation, and the Boy Scouts of America. He is EX OFFICIO board chairman for the Huntington Society, an arts foundation. He has an M.A. degree from American University, is a member of three national honor societies, and holds nine honorary doctorate degrees.

BENJAMIN R. CIVILETTI
Mr. Civiletti has been Chairman of the law firm Venable, Baetjer and
Howard and was Managing Partner of the firm from 1987 to 1993. From
1979 to 1980, Mr. Civiletti served as the Attorney General of the
United States. Mr. Civiletti is former Chairman of the Board of
Greater Baltimore Medical Center and the Founding Chairman of the
Maryland Legal Services Corporation; a Director of Bethlehem Steel
Corporation, and a Director of MBNA Corporation and MBNA
International. Mr. Civiletti has served as a Director of Wackenhut
Corrections Corporation since April 1994. Mr. Civiletti is a
Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, the American Law Institute,
and the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Civiletti was Chairman
of the Maryland Governor's Commission on Welfare Policy in 1993, and
a member of the Maryland Governor's Task Force on Alternatives to
Incarceration in 1991.

ANNE NEWMAN FOREMAN
Mrs. Foreman served as Under Secretary of the United States Air Force
from September 1989 until January 1993. Prior to her tenure as Under
Secretary, she was General Counsel of the Department of the Air Force
and a member of the Department's Intelligence Oversight Board. Mrs.
Foreman served in the White House as Associate Director of
Presidential Personnel for National Security (1985-1987) and
practiced law with the Washington office of the Houston-based law
firm of Bracewell and Patterson, and with the British solicitors
Boodle Hatfield, Co., in London, England (1979-1985). Mrs. Foreman is
a former member of the career Foreign Service, having served in
Beirut, Lebanon; Tunis, Tunisia, and the U.S. Mission to the United
Nations in New York. She was a U.S. Delegate to the 3lst Session of
the U.N. General Assembly and to the 62nd Session of the U.N.
Economic and Social Council. Mrs. Foreman received a B.A. degree,
Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Southern California and a
M.A. (History) from the same institution. She also holds a J.D. from
American University and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate
of Laws from Troy State University. Mrs. Foreman is a member of Phi
Beta Kappa, has been a member of numerous Presidential delegations,
and was twice awarded the Air Force Medal for Distinguished Civilian
Service. Mrs. Foreman is a member of the Board of Directors of Ultra
Electronics Defense, Inc. of Advanced Programming Concepts, Inc., and
of Trust Securities, Inc. She also serves as Chairman of The National
Gypsum Company Settlement Trust and as Director and Treasurer of the
Asbestos Claims Management Corporation.

EDWARD L. HENNESSY, JR.
Mr. Hennessy served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive
Officer of AlliedSignal Inc. from 1979 to 1991. He was previously Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of United Technologies Corporation, Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance for Heublein, Inc. and Controller with IT&T Corporation. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Avanir Pharmaceuticals Corp. He is Trustee of Stevens Institute of Technology, a Director of The Coast Guard Academy Inc., founding President of the Tri-County Scholarship Fund and Vice-Chairman of the March of Dimes. He was a member of The President's Private Sector Survey on Cost Control, The (New Jersey) Governor's Management Improvement Plan, Inc., and the Tender Offer Advisory Committee of the Securities & Exchange Commission. He also is a member of The Conference Board, Inc. and the Economic Club of New York. "General" PAUL X. KELLEY
General Kelley is a Partner with J.F. Lehman, Inc., a New York private investment firm. He served as Vice Chairman, Cassidy & Associates, Inc., a government relations firm from 1989 to 1998. Prior to that, he was Commandant of the Marine Corps and Member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1983 until his retirement in 1987. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of London Life Reinsurance Company, a reinsurance company; Park Place Entertainment Corporation, a gaming company; Saul Centers, Inc., a real estate investment trust; Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., a firearms company; and UST, Inc., a smokeless tobacco, cigar and wine company. He is the recipient of numerous awards for valor and distinguished service during thirty-seven years of active military service. General Kelley has a B.S. in Economics from Villanova University and is a Distinguished Graduate of the Air War College. He is the recipient of five honorary doctorate
degrees from major universities.

NANCY CLARK REYNOLDS
Ms. Reynolds is Senior Consultant of The Wexler Group, a governmental relations and public affairs consulting firm in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the Board of the National Park Foundation and a past President of the Business and Government Relations Council. Ms. Reynolds is also currently Chairman of Crow Canyon Archaeological Center in Cortez, Colorado. She was formerly a Director of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, G.D. Searle & Co., Sears, Roebuck & Co., Allstate Insurance Company and Viacom International. From 1977-82, she was a Vice President of the Bendix Corporation. She received her B.A. degree in English from Goucher College and an Honorary Degree of Law from Gonzaga University.

JOHN F. RUFFLE
Mr. Ruffle is a retired Vice Chairman and Director of J.P. Morgan &
Co., Inc. and Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York. He joined
J.P. Morgan in 1970 as Controller and was named CFO in 1980, and
elected Vice Chairman in 1985. Earlier, he was Assistant Treasurer
and Director of Accounting for International Paper Company. Mr.
Ruffle also serves as a Director of Bethlehem Steel Corporation,
American Shared Hospital Services and Trident Corporation, and
Wackenhut Corrections Corporation. He is a Trustee of the Johns
Hopkins University and of JPM Series Trust II (mutual funds). He is a
past President of the Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting
Foundation and a past Chairman of the Financial Executives Institute,
and in 1991 received the Financial Executive Institute's National
Award for Distinguished Service. Mr. Ruffle is a graduate of the
Johns Hopkins University and earned an M.B.A. in Finance from Rutgers
University. He is also a CPA.

"General" THOMAS P. STAFFORD
General Stafford is a Consultant for the firm of General Technical Services, Inc., which he joined in 1984. He is also Vice Chairman and co-founder of Stafford, Burke and Hecker, Inc., a Washington-based consulting firm. After serving as an astronaut for a number of years, he retired in 1979 from the Air Force as Deputy Chief of Staff for Research, Development and Acquisition and served as Vice Chairman of Gibraltar Exploration Limited until 1984. Gen. Stafford is also Chairman of the Board of Omega Watch Corporation of America and is a Director of N.L. Industries, Inc.; Cycomm International, Inc.; Timet, Inc.; and Tremont Corporation. General Stafford served as a Director of the Corporation from 1991 to 1996.

GEORGE R. WACKENHUT
Mr. Wackenhut is Chairman of the Board and was Chief Executive
Officer of the Corporation until February 17, 2000. He was President
of the Corporation from the time it was founded until April 26, 1986.
He formerly was a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Ivestigation (FBI). Mr. Wackenhut is Chairman the Board of Directors of Wackenhut Corrections Corporation, a member of the Board of Trustees of Correctional Properties Trust, a former member of the Board of Directors of SSJ Medical Development, Inc., Miami, Florida, and is on the Dean's Advisory Board of the University of Miami School of Business. He is on the National Council of Trustees, Freedoms
Foundation at Valley Forge, the President's Advisory Council for the
Small Business Administration, Region IV, and a member of the
National Board of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. He is a past
participant in the Florida Governor's War on Crime and a past member
of the Law Enforcement Council, National Council on Crime and
Delinquency, and the Board of Visitors of the U.S. Army Military
Police School. He is also a member of the American Society for
Industrial Security. Mr. Wackenhut was a recipient in 1990 of the Labor Order of Merit, First Class, from the government of Venuzuela; and, in 1999 was awarded the distinguished Ellis Island Medal of Honor by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations. He has been designated a "distinguished alumnus" by West Chester University, the University of Hawaii, and Johns Hopkins University. He was inducted into the West Chester University Hall of Fame; the Athlete's Hall of Fame in his home county, Delaware County, PA; and the "Wall of Fame", consisting of prominent graduates of Upper Darby (PA) High School. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Hawaii and his M.Ed. degree from Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Wackenhut is married to Ruth J. Wackenhut, the Secretary of the Corporation. His son, Richard R. Wackenhut, is Vice Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation.

RICHARD R. WACKENHUT
Mr. Wackenhut has been the Chairman of the Board since August 1999,
and President and Chief Executive Officer since February 17, 2000. He
was President and Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation from
April, 1986 to February 2000. He was formerly Senior Vice President,
Operations from 1983-1986. He was Manager of Physical Security from
1973-74. He also served as Manager, Development at the Corporation's
Headquarters from 1974-76; Area Manager, Columbia, SC from 1976-77;
District Manager, Columbia, SC from 1977-79; Director, Physical
Security Division at Corporate Headquarters 1979-80; Vice President,
Operations from 1981-82; and Senior Vice President, Domestic
Operations from 1982-83. Mr. Wackenhut is a member of the Board of
Directors of Wackenhut Corrections Corporation, a Director of
Wackenhut UK, Limited; Wackenhut Dominicana, S.A.; Wackenhut
Resources, Inc.; the Board of Trustees of Correctional Properties
Trust; and a Director of several domestic subsidiaries of the
Corporation. He is former Vice Chairman of Associated Industries of
Florida. He is also a member of the American Society for Industrial
Security, a former member of The Citadel Advisory Council, a member
of the International Security Management Association, and the
International Association of Chiefs of Police. He received his B.A.
degree from The Citadel in 1969, and completed the Advanced Management
Program of the Harvard University School of Business Administration
in 1987. Mr. Wackenhut is the son of George R. Wackenhut, a Director,
and Ruth J. Wackenhut, Secretary of the Corporation.
