US support for Bush drops: poll

A Newsweek poll carried out this week shows support in the United States for President George W Bush is waning.

The weekly magazine reports that 58 per cent of Americans think the United States is spending too much on the reconstruction of Iraq.

The poll also shows that voters were almost equally divided over Mr Bush personally, with 46 per cent in favour of his re-election and 47 against.

This could be the first time I've seen his re-elect #s this close.

over 2.5 years in office and the dow is down 12%, millions of jobs have been lost, corporate integrity is at an all time low, a handful of nearly unarmed rebels from across the globe managed to hijack 4 planes and level several buildings, kill 3,000 civilians, and attack our MILITARY HEADQUARTERS without so much as a single bullet fired in defense.

multiple treaties have been abrogated, the world went from huge sympathy to profound antipathy, the middle east is a mess, our military is over-extended, russia is in prime position to control world oil, our currency is overdue for an even more dramatic decline than it has already suffered, we went from a record budget surplus to record budget deficit, and the poor are suffering, the middle class are suffering, and even the filthy rich folks are losing money. our health care system continues to be an ever more expensive mess, and our already teetering retirement and social net is nearly beyond salvation.

tolerance is at an all-time low, political discourse has been reduced to name-calling, accusations of treachery, and all but overt bribery. our leader, who went awol during vietnam, probably pissed his pants on 9/11/01. he's at best a recovering alcoholic who pass up numerous opportunities to deny past cocaine use.

there's pretty much no good news to balance this unless you heavily weigh the fact that he seems to lie about everything except possibly his private sex life.


and with this as backdrop, he's in a statistical dead heat for re-election.

If not, the answer - plain and simple - is an unfettered free press not owned by corporate fascists.

Just keep it close so no one will notice if he wins. Kick Diebold out. Make sure that your towns and cities do not use computers that can be hacked. We have to act now. Not next spring. They will try to rig the primarys also. This is a battle for our feedom. Write your congress people. Make sure they understand. Write them every day.

It means that more and more people are hardening in their views against Bush. And experience suggests that it's much more difficult to swing a voter from "Disapprove" to "Approve" than it is to move them the other way.

It means that as the situation in Iraq worsens and the economy continutes to sputter, it's more likely that the numbers are going to get worse for Bush. Stop snickering, you! It would take a dramatic economic recovery (unlikely) or a huge success in Iraq (impossible) to turn the numbers around.

Has anyone ever noticed the lower The Chimp gets in the polls the more RIDICULOUS the spin becomes? I mean really, stating this morning that the more success we have in Iraq, the more attacks we will be facing! Aside from being absolutely disgusted with this administration, I am getting a good laugh at how desperate their spin has become. My eyes should be watering and my gut should hurt by the end of the week if this misadministration stays true to course.
