Hoping all is well. Japan has so many devastating earthquakes. I have lots of friends in Tokyo. Thanks for letting me know - I can always count on DU to keep me posted on the real news.

3. USGS - 6.7 on the Richter Scale


A strong earthquake occurred at 01:06:33 (UTC) on Friday, October 31, 2003. The magnitude 6.7 event has been located OFF THE EAST COAST OF HONSHU, JAPAN. (This event has been reviewed by a seismologist.)

It's tsunami time.

Depending on how much water was displaced, and how the floor of the ocean deformed, it could travel east quite a distance. .

10. Probably not unusual from what I see so far. I used to go to Japan
4 or 5 times a year and I don't recall ever being there without feeling at least 1 "oss-kweek" as my friend Shimoji used to pronounce it. The only time I was alarmed was one night in my room on the 35th floor of the Tokyo Prince hotel...it rattled the bottles of Kirin pretty loudly in the mini-fridge. :D

11. Another quake near Sendai

This makes the third large quake there since the summer. I felt it where I was, more than 100 miles south of the epicenter.
