SHANKSVILLE, Pa., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- A crescent shape in the design of a Pennsylvania memorial to victims who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks has been removed by its designer.

The new design for the memorial near Shanksville calls for a tree-lined walkway that envelops a roughly circular patch of land at the crash site. The previous design had the trees follow a crescent-shaped path, which critics said is associated with Islam.

Radical Islamic terrorists hijacked United Airlines Flight 93. Passengers were aware of the first three hijackings and wrestled with the hijackers, crashing it into the field and killing the 40 passengers and crew members on board, but no one on the ground.

Visitors will move along a curved walkway flanked by a grove of 40 memorial sugar and red maple trees. The walkway moves around the bowl to restored wetlands and eventually to the crash site, known as the "sacred ground," where only family members of the victims will be allowed, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said.

I hope that the designers will include the original designs as part of the memorial presentation at the site so that future generations will be able to judge the cultural climate that exists now. I hope that these future visitors will judge the nay-sayers to the arc design harshly and laugh at their pathetic ignorance. :mad:

1 - I don't see how it would be enforced.
2 - Cemeteries and memorials are meant for everyone.

Even if you were to take the story at face value, the husband was not the one that planned to take control of the aircraft from the hijackers. He was too busy talking to his wife!
