Hinchey sees 'evolution' in Senator Clinton's war stance

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. An upstate Democratic congressman says there appears to be a "process of evolution" in Senator Hillary Clinton's views on the war in Iraq.

Maurice Hinchey -- one of the most outspoken congressional critics of the war -- says he's been "bothered" by Clinton's backing of the Bush administration's Iraq policies.

Hinchey today told a Binghamton radio station (W-N-B-F) that a letter Clinton sent to constituents indicates she based her position on "inaccurate and ill-founded" information provided by the administration.

Hinchey praised the views of Steven Greenfield, a New Paltz man who plans to challenge Clinton next year for the Democratic nomination for Senate.
