After Scathing 9/11 Report, White House Points Fingers

WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration is defending its anti-terror efforts and blaming Congress for any deficiencies.

White House counselor Dan Bartlett is responding to a report from former members of the 9/11 commission. The panel said the government deserves "more F's than A's" in adopting the commission's recommendations to better guard the country.

Bartlett said that lawmakers on Capitol Hill spend homeland security money "based on old models, pre- 9/11 models."

He said the administration has acted on about 70 of the panel's recommendations while others wait for congressional action.

1. Everyone should have been fired after 9/11
instead, Bush promoted those military people and FAA/Norad officials who took part in the 9/11 'mis-communication' fiasco.

16. OMINIOUS WARNING
With this piece the 9/11 commission is setting us up for future events that can be used to justify a nuclear first strike against ANYONE they choose to name as responsible for an attack against the United States.

28. I'm so glad Bush ran on terror in 2004
I feel much safer with him in charge.

This makes me ill. It's as though he ran on "I reduced the deficit." Nobody in the media bothered to report that he didn't do dick about terrorism and he came close enough to winning the election that Diebold could steal it for him.

32. Exactly and on the day of 9/11 he did nothing when he could have saved
a life. Maybe just one. Maybe have done something. But he did nothing before, during and after. (after is the Iraq war-and they haven't even "won" in Afghanistan) It's the biggest con of all time. He RAN his whole campaign on 9/11-the day he did nothing to prevent and did nothing while it was happening. There are no words. And I get to listen to the utter tripe of the media talking about his "bullhorn" moment at Ground Zero-it happened days after 9/11. What a brave hero.
