Pirro's Hubby a Louse Spouse (trying to wreck her NY Senate bid)
Edited on Mon Dec-05-05 12:17 PM by brooklynite
December 5, 2005 -- Jeanine Pirro's own husband is working against her in her bid for the U.S. Senate, sneaking around behind her back to lobby a state Republican leader to get her to drop out of the race, sources told The Post.

Gov. Pataki also was part of the extraordinary plot to get the Westchester County DA — whom he endorsed for the race before becoming convinced she wasn't up to the effort — to throw in the towel and run for attorney general, not for Senate against Hillary Rodham Clinton, The Post has learned.

The stunning effort to convince Jeanine Pirro to drop out began after "Albert Pirro asked Bruno to do it," a Pataki aide said.

A source close to Bruno said Albert Pirro had actually relayed his views to Steve Boggess, secretary of the Senate and a key Bruno political aide.

They should start a friggin' comedy group.

Then again, I remember when the Freepers thought little Ricky Lazio was going to beat Clinton, and were all crestfallen when the election results were clear by 8:30 on election night. They couldn't believe it.

Idiots.

14. As the old song goes,
"Money can't buy me LOVE." I remember how the Reps were besides themselves sending in money to Lazio's campaign from all over the COUNTRY.

I get to VOTE for my Senator (and I did vote for Hillary), not the rest of the country and the opposite Party. As much as I am disappointed in many things she has done, millions of dollars to the opponent from around the country, be-it Piro, Cox, or whoever, will change MY mind. Actually, it will probably increase my resolve. This is MY Senator and MY decision, not THEIR'S.

2. Ha, that is RICH! Is he afraid she won't have dinner on the table for him
when he gets home?

This is a hoot: A key element of the effort — which is still under way — is now to orchestrate a "groundswell" of GOP support for a Pirro attorney-general candidacy. It would culminate next week at a state Republican Committee meeting with a call from party leaders for her to enter that race.

....The sources, who insisted on anonymity, said the plot had been in the works for weeks and eventually involved several discussions between Bruno, Pataki, Albert Pirro and other high-level Republicans including former U.S. Sen. Alfonse D'Amato.

"After weeks of discussions, they all agreed that Jeanine's campaign was going nowhere and was in danger of collapse," said one of the sources. "Al Pirro became increasingly concerned that his wife's only hope for a credible race was running for attorney general, not running against Clinton.

...Several sources described Jeanine Pirro as under the strong influence of her chief strategist, longtime Pataki political consultant Kieran Mahoney, who, they said, had repeatedly convinced her to stay in the Senate race despite a series of embarrassing stumbles and fund-raising failures. ....

13. Well, that photo of him reminds me of an asshole who used to take the
same sort of abusive, under the thumb attitude with his wife that I knew years back...she up and left his ass after many years of servitude and enjoys a rich life nowadays, and he has been unable to find a replacement to put the dinner on the table for him.

Come to think of it, if he is anything like that guy I knew, the two of them are a match made in heaven!

6. Priio probably has a clean shot at the AG office
She has prosecutorial experience, and the Dems haven't settled on a candidate yet (top choices are Andrew Cuomo, who's not the stellar figure his father was, and Mark Green who's a pain in the ---); however, the general lack of enthusiasm for the entire GOP slate and the division with the Conservative Party threatens to dampen Republican turnout.
