Bin Laden had a bullet ready-in case he was caught

LOS ANGELES - Osama bin Laden has vowed never to be taken alive and once gave his bodyguard a pistol with two bullets to shoot him if it appeared that he might be caught, according to a new book of interviews with people who know the al Qaeda leader.

The book excerpted in the new issue of Vanity Fair, "The Osama bin Laden I Know: An Oral History" by CNN security expert Peter Bergen, also says bin Laden intensely dislikes deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein .

After the 2001 attacks on the United States carried out by al Qaeda the Bush administration made much of what it said were links between Saddam and bin Laden‘s organization, citing this as one justification for the 2003 invasion of Iraq .

...

Bin Laden‘s Pakistani biographer, Hamid Mir, told Bergen that when he interviewed bin Laden, the al Qaeda leader "condemned Saddam Hussein ... He gave such kind of abuses that it was very difficult for me to write," he said.

1. Bin Laden is in all respects similar
to any of our neo-fascist religious. He is (was) an asshole. He had Massoud killed days before 9/11 because he planned that the downfall would destabilize Afghanistan and that Massoud could then have the break he was waiting for to get rid of the Taliban. Bin Laden is (was) a Bush with more brass and more brain, which is not difficult, but a lethal asshole all the same.

9. Well he is a zealot and they all will do any thing for their belief
Lenin etc was the same. The are sure they are right so any thing they do feeds that. Any belief has its zealots and I think they all should be run from. My own family were Puritans and they drove people out of where they lived, burned or hung Quakers and only Puritans could hold public office and they had to go to church. They are all like that when they think they know what is best for others and will do any thing to force it on you. From Lenin, Hitler to Cromwell. They were all ready to kill for the 'true' word of what ever they believed. :hide: :scared:

    6. If Bin Laden is alive, he must be having a real laugh at Bush.
Bush has caused more disruption in the middle east in a couple of years than Bin Laden could have hoped to do in a lifetime.

    and southern hemisphere.

Al-Zarqawi is so bad he doesn't need no stinking bullets to take himself out. He can travel to different dimensions and planes of existence that space traveling wannabes can only dream of.

Al-Zarqawi kill himself, hell no. In the event he did, he would just insert another quarter and come back to life.

    13. Anyone who was alive in 1991 and not comatose or stupid
already knew that Osama bin Laden hated Saddam Hussein. He resented the secularist regime in the Holy Land, and wanted the Holy Crescent for himself (ie for radical religious Muslims). Part of the reason that al Qaeda became so much more aggressive towards the West (particularly the US) in the early nineties is because we "heathens" invaded the Holy Land before he had a chance to. It was bad enough that we violated the Holy Land, but it was even more insulting to bin Laden that we were able to "succeed" where he was not -- bending a hostile regime to our will. (Of course, it didn't really work very well, but in his mind it was a victory for us.)

Heck, he even said so in several of his infamous "releases", that he hated Saddam.
