Merkel under pressure after Rice debacle

I just love that headline ...

BERLIN (Reuters) - New German Chancellor Angela Merkel faced her first big foreign policy challenge on Wednesday after a bridge-building meeting with the United States descended into a messy diplomatic spat.

A visit from Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Tuesday exposed differences between the two sides over the sensitive case of a German man who was held for five months as a terrorist suspect by the United States in a prison in Afghanistan.

The Financial Times Deutschland said: "Not only is there no apology, but even the word 'mistake' is too much for the United States when it comes to a concrete case."

The disagreement soured Merkel's first foray into trans-atlantic diplomacy since taking office on November 22.

3. Yes, I would say the sentiment on the street

about America's policies and arrogance isn't going to be in favor of anyone who supports Condiliar Rice.

The hubris of America - and the shame that our "secretary of state" would use that opportunity to deliver an "or else" threat to Europe in a diplomatic presentation is mind boggling.

I honestly don't understand how Condoleeza Rice could have possibly been an honor student in her field. She's absolutely terrible at it, every facet of it.

Wannabe Realpolitikers deserve no quarter, particular when a bunch of West Texas clowns have handed the wheel of US foreign policy to them, and a little amateurish princess who's just going through another episode of being special and thinks she can control the world by being churlish and repeating what she chatted with her men friends and mentors about is, well, right out.
