World 'losing patience with Iran'
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said the world is losing patience with Iran over its nuclear programme.

Mohamed ElBaradei, who is in Oslo to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, said outstanding nuclear issues with Iran would be clarified next year.

The IAEA has repeatedly expressed concern about Tehran's activities.

"The parties need to sit together, discuss their grievances and reach a solution," he said.

5. The story says nothing at all about the UN
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the EU & the USA are among the "disturbed." Aren't you glad we've got Bolton to "reform" the UN?

Was the US so upset when Pakistan became a nuclear power?

21. re: US position on Pakistani nukes - those are "good nukes". We helped
Pakistan acquire them in exchange for Pakistan's assistance to the Mujahaddin fighting the Ruskies in Afghanistan. Read Joe Trento's "Prelude to Terror."

Iran is trying to obtain "bad nukes" with technology acquired from Pakistan. Go figure.

4. Enlist the headline writers and send them in with the first wave.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world will remain patient and the diplomats will threaten, cajole, pretend to make demands, and play their appointed role in this endless stage show.

Hand out the medals, and then back to the front!

9. The Beeb seems to be putting words in Mr. El Baradei's mouth here.
The quotes do not support the headline.

Both on the first page of the LBN.

23. I'll repeat what ECH1969 said - what is your point?
I must say, I expected a punchline to a joke, or at least a bit of sarcasm, not the answer of '2'. What does '2' signify?

19. What is your point?
The situation with Iraq interests me, the 2006 election interests me, and the possibility of conflict with Iran interests me.

You will find my posts centered on those three topics.

As for posting articles criticising Iran, there are far more threads open right now on the first page in LBN attacking Iran from other posters then there are from me.

16. The Anglo-American war propaganda machine is being warmed up.
The "world" say NO to war against Iran. What's clear is that if it were not for the aggression against Iraq, Iran would be on the road to liberalization. Instead, people are reflexively defending the "Islamic Revolution" because they want some national dignity and see this as the way to get it.

22. The last thing that BushCo wants is a liberalized, democratic Iran.
The Iranian hardliners and their agents, such as Ghorbanifar, are willing to do secret dirty deals with BushCo and the Israeli Right. Look at the October Surprise, Iran-Contra, BCCI, and most recently the production of the forged Niger Yellowcake documents -- Ghorbanifar, Ledeen, and the rogue Bush wing of the CIA are at the center of all these scandals.

Also, it serves the American and Israeli Right to have an Iranian boogeyman in place -- that goes a long way toward justifying an aggressive foreign policy and as a talisman to retain political power at home.
