Rumsfeld caught dining with Kissinger
RAW STORY

(from paid-restricted Roll Call: http://www.rollcall.com/issues/51_61/hoh/11525-1.html)

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and erstwhile Nixon Secretary of State and Vietnam War architect Henry Kissinger were caught dining together last Thursday at Washington's Bistro Bis, ROLL CALL reports Monday. Excerpts:

#

The former secretary of State arrived first and waited a good 15 minutes for Rummy. While he waited, sources say he ordered a Virgin Mary. (Who knows, maybe Kissinger wanted to stay sober to remember the moment in the event Rumsfeld apologized for that little spat that dates back to the day when he accused Kissinger of being too slow to pull out of Vietnam.)

Rummy drank white wine, our sources say. And it appeared they had a “chummy, nice, relaxing dinner,” said Angela Phelps, director of publicity at Regnery Publishing, who dined at a nearby table.

Phelps said that when Kissinger and Rumsfeld got up to leave Bis, they were nearly mobbed with folks taking pictures and wanting to chat with them. Clearly, Rumsfeld’s constituency dines at Bis: One former GOP Congressional staffer stopped the secretary to say he supported and appreciated the administration’s efforts in Iraq.

36. Yep
Kissinger is good friends and business partners with Pete Peterson, chair of the Council of Foreign Relations, and co-founder of the Blackstone Group; the company which held the mortgage on WTC 7. I imagine this is why Kissinger resigned from the 9/11 commission, due to "business conflicts." :puke:

34. I agree
It also seems to me that there's something odd about the headline, if not the story itself. I feel like there's a really crucial predicate missing... like the headline was supposed to be "Rumsfeld caught dining on human flesh with Kissinger", but an editor decided to water down the breaking news aspect of it or something. A smell conspiracy...

comes out! Looks like that crew goes back a long time together.

Found the photo in google images under Rumsfeld + Kissinger:

Also that photo appears in google images under Kissinger + Nixon:
http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=+Kissinger+%2B+Nixon

Here's one I absolutely LOOOOVE! It's NIXON BOWLING!

Found it in google images under "Nixon bowling" :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Somewhere there's a photo of Nixon strolling along the beach in California in his suit. I gotta see that one again.

I can't stand Kissinger but I really feel for him in that photo! Holy moly.

I'm going to stash this one away to show other people.

No, there's no doubt in my mind. These Republicans really take that momentary power personally, don't they?
They just can't handle it properly. They aren't strong enough inside.

He looks something like Donald Sutherland in the science fiction movie about Body Snatchers.

the War room.

And what a cast of characters in there... some kind of cleric, a General (Abrhams, I think) someone in what appears to be a jogging suit..

WTF?

Assuming it is fall/winter, that would be morning light in the Oval Office... really early

Could this be an ass chewing for the Cambodia Incursion of Nov 71?

29.  Bob Haldeman and Jeb Magruder may be the people sitting on Nixon's
left. Here's a photo of both with Haldeman wearing the familiar crewcut:

I read that after he was Nixon's campaign director, Jeb Magruder was Bob Haldeman's aide. That could be the back of their heads. Whatever they were doing, it probably wasn't a scheduled meeting for all of them since the ones in the chairs are really not dressed for work.

Too bad there isn't a tape for THAT meeting.

27. Is this photo real? If so, who are the others?
Obviously, Kissinger's on the left, the next one is not readily recognizable, the one with the pipe would be Mitchell, the officer would probably be Haig, then there's everybody's friend Dick, the next one is also open to speculation, and the last one would be Haldeman.

Kissinger looks too fat, though, and the profile's not incredibly convincing, and Nixon doesn't look quite right either.

What is the origin of this photo? Is it for real?

You've nailed Mitchell. Now that's great. Here's a frontal pipe Mitchell!

On edit: Here's a pudgy Kissinger:

Across from Kissinger (pudgy while sitting down), is George H. W. Bush. in the center of the photo is Dick Cheney. You recognize the guys around Kissinger.

25. Two small men with giant egos who fancy themselves better than
the average run of humanity... and fancy themselves to have some sort of privilege to decide things like, who should starve (Kissinger) or who should go to war (Rumsfeld)... or, in the case of both of them, who should be allowed to live.

I think playing God is a very dangerous thing for small men to do.

i heard that kissinger once called rumsfeld the most ruthless man he had ever known --

quite a statement considering kissinger's circle of acquiantences.

35. Never heard that. But I guess Henry would have a certain
grudging admiration for someone he considered that ruthless.

What was up with Henry's love life, I wonder? Long, long, ago, they used to run stories about sharp-looking but serious youngish (but not young) women who supposedly had the hots for the handsome Henry. I don't recall if he ever permanently committed to any of them.

You have to wonder. It's almost like he and Condoleezza Rice are these sexless automatons, with no particular private life... only there to further the interests of megalomaniacal presidents (such as Nixon or Junior).
