I don't live in a bubble, says Bush (from Brian Williams i-view)

I don't live in a bubble, says Bush

<snip>

"I feel like I'm getting some really good advice from very capable people and that people from all walks of life inform me and inform those who advise me," he said. "I feel very comfortable that I'm very aware of what's going on."

The President's comments came in an Oval Office interview with NBC television, which put part of the exchange on its nightly anchor's Web log, Daily Nightly.

...

"I don't feel in a bubble. You feel in a bubble in the sense I can't go walking out the front gate and go shopping like I'd love to do for my wife - although I may, and I'm not going to tell you what I'm going to buy her," Mr Bush said.

"I just talked to the president-elect of Honduras. A lot of my job is foreign policy. And I spend an enormous amount of time with leaders from other countries, and they come right here in the Oval Office and tell me what's on their mind. And I tell them what's on my mind," he said.

1. Ironically the President of Honduras lives in a house
not a big White House but a house and in a neighborhood. Now it's probably super guarded and yadda yadda but he lives in a house.

2. Hmmmmm
Does a person who lives in reality say that Iraq is taking the same path to "democracy" that the USA did?

Since when did someone invade the USA, occupy the country, and force a very oppressive, fascistic kind of "democKracy" on us?

Answers on a postage stamp, please.

37. France did WHAT to us? You are aware that without the French fleet's help

....There would likely BE no USA today? Withouth them putting some woop-ass on the British and blockading the british fleet in the Chesepeake so that Washington could finally beat Cornwallis we would not have won the revolutionary war, so to put any blame on the french is to thumb your nose at those who helped us win our nation.

Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 05:17 PM by Wordie
Isolated from the truth, as well as the people. Although I made a joke, it's very sad, really.

And this:
"I'm interested in the news, I'm not all that interested in the opinions."

...is just really scary. Doesn't he know that it's the opinions of those around him that are in large part creating the news? Or is he so isolated that he has come to see the opinions of those around him not as "opinions" but as "facts" that require no scrutiny as to their validity?

44. The entire interview made him look foolish and weak. Its gonna be fodder
for the comics. I'm surprised he gave it. Where was Rove, letting him speak off the cuff like this? Surely they know they can't do that. It only makes it abundantly clear what a complete doofus he is.

Of course, it does change the subject away from anything substantive. Maybe they're that desperate now.

53. Am I imagining things?
Tues. AM
I just woke up and turned on the TV to MSNBC, where another segment of the Brian Williams interview with Bush was on. I have not had coffee yet, and am a bit groggy, but I SWEAR I just heard an interchange about the Iraq war that went pretty much like this:

Williams: You had said the troops would be welcomed...

Bush: Well, they were welcomed, they were just welcomed with violence...

HUH?

14. "And neither of us listen to anything."
"I just talked to the president-elect of Honduras. A lot of my job is foreign policy. And I spend an enormous amount of time with leaders from other countries, and they come right here in the Oval Office and tell me what's on their mind. And I tell them what's on my mind," he said."

Sounds like a lot of "telling" and not a lot of "listening" going on there in that Oval Office.

Whatever you do, don't tell Bush to go pee in a corner.

With Karl and Condi and Cheney gone, and no one telling him what to do, he really thinks he's running things.

38. George wants to buy Laura a dildo but can't tell Brian Williams
George would like to buy Laura a dildo.
He said it to Brian Williams

"No, I don't feel in a bubble. I mean you feel in a bubble, in the sense that I can't go walking out the front gate and go shopping, like I'd love to do for my wife---although I'm a man, I'm not going tell you what I'm gonna buy her."

C'mon George, What could it be? Perfume, jewelry, lingerie, a book, a fur coat.....

And why "although I'm a man', you can't tell Brian Williams the type of present you might buy your wife.

It's a sex toy, probably a dildo!!!
