The United States was quick to point the finger at Syria. 'His murder is another act of terrorism aimed at trying to subjugate Lebanon to Syrian domination,' White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

Tueni, 48, who was recently elected to the Lebanese parliament, has been an outspoken critic of Syrian involvement in Lebanon. The Al-Nahar newspaper was founded by his grandfather in 1933. His father, Ghassan Tueni, was the General Manager for several decades, served in parliament, the cabinet, and represented Lebanon at the UN.

Monday's blast was so powerful many other cars burst into flames while nearby shops were damaged.

Syria tried to obstruct an investigation into the murder of Rafik Hariri, former prime minister of Lebanon, according to the second United Nations report into the murder.

Evidence of Syrian involvement in the bomb attack that killed Hariri in February was reinforced in the report, presented to the Security Council yesterday. An initial report said it was highly unlikely that the attack could have been carried out without Syria's knowledge.

3. very hot!
It is clear that Syria could want certain people dead. But, it is always best to wait and see what is going on, before finger-pointing. Usually, it is Israel at the end of that bony finger of accusation, but it doesn't mean I wish that another country (no matter my opinion of it) get the same treatment.
