Building collapses in New Jersey
"An apartment building in a residential area of New Jersey has collapsed, sparking fears of multiple injuries.

A cloud of smoke visible from neighbouring Manhattan is billowing from the building in Bergenfield.

A number of neighbouring buildings appear to be on fire as well. Emergency services have rushed to the scene. "

3. I must admit that I'm confused......
It's on the BBC website as "breaking" news, but it happened about 90 minutes ago and nobody has yet posted it (that I can see) on DU (I looked at the front 3 pages of LBN, having lost my "search" facility due to lack of contributions).

What up wid dat?

P.

7. I saw it on CNN some time ago
The building hadn't collapsed yet. I am not watching now but they kept going back to it, treating it like big news.

They kept saying they were getting conflicting information but didn't say what was conflicting. They were showing live pictures of it.

They said it was a gas explosion in one of the apartments.
Gas scares me.

8. Explosion Rocks N.J. Apartment Building
<snip>

"An explosion rocked an apartment building Tuesday morning and at least part of it collapsed, the fire department said. Rescuers were searching for one person who lived in the building and could not be located, authorities said.

An undetermined number of people were injured, the fire department said.

County Sheriff Leo P. McGuire said the fire may have been started when a contractor working near high-pressure gas lines attempted to remove an oil tank.

McGuire told MSNBC that most of the building's 30 families were able to get out. He said authorities were trying to determine whether the one missing person was in the building at the time of the explosion."

10. Anyone know where Bergenfield. is in relation to the Empire State Building
Yes, I know the ESB is in New York, but I have a website with a live Web-cam at the top of the building, so should I look North, South or directly West for smoke?

13. I do a lot of stuff, just though someone might know more quickly
One thing I can't do is look North-west on that camera, they had a camera that looked North, but it looks like they took it down, now it's only a 180 degree camera facing South.
