Democrats: Health care, job creation, defense key (radio address)
The Democratic Party's legislative priorities could help strengthen the American community in the coming year, Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean said Saturday in his party's weekly radio address.
....
"In the spirit of the Christmas season, we also think it's wrong to cut things like funding for crutches and school lunches for poor children," he said.

"Democrats are the only party to have balanced the budget in America in the last 38 years," Dean said. "We will do it again."

He said the country has worked together before in the face of adversity and can do it again.

"Together we can stand for honesty, hard work, respect and opportunity for each American," Dean said. "Together America can do better."

3. Defense is the key, eh?
For the war on terra, huh, Dean?

Actually, the best way to get health care or job creation is to cut defense and redirect that wasted expense into real needs.

And the best way to do so is to get the imperial army out of Iraq and the hundreds of other places in the world where it doesn't belong.

How sad that the Democratic Party panders this way to the military establishment. Dean is still good for an unscripted thought or two, but in so many ways he's just like any other establishment pol.
