The White House issued a trio of messages Monday with greetings from U.S. President George Bush and first lady Laura Bush.

After the White House holiday card was knocked for no reference to Christmas, Bush started off his Christmas message with a quote from the Gospel according to Matthew on Jesus' birth.
Both the Christmas and Hanukkah messages included support for the men and women who serve in the U.S. military.
In the Hanukkah statement, Bush did a quick retelling of the historical story -- a revolt against oppressors who forbade (Jewish people) to pray -- and the oil that lasted for eight days. The president said, As Jewish-Americans prepare to light the Hanukkah candles this year, we give thanks for God's many blessings and his watch and care over our nation.
In the Kwanzaa message, Bush said, As families and friends gather for Kwanzaa, Americans remembers the many contributions African-Americans have made to our country's characters and celebrate the diversity that makes our nation strong. May your commitment to family, faith and community thrive during the holiday season and throughout the coming year.
