Woodward Said Novak's Source "Was Not in the White House"
Over roast beef at IOP, reporter hinted at deeper knowledge

As reporters barraged the White House last week with renewed questions on the CIA leak case, one of the Washington press corps’ own may have been holding on to a key part of the mystery.

...

“His source was not in the White House, I don’t believe,” Woodward said of Novak over a private dinner at the Institute of Politics on Dec. 5. He did not indicate what information, if any, he had to corroborate the claim.

...

At the Harvard dinner, Woodward sparred with his friend and former Washington Post colleague Carl Bernstein, over the motives behind the leak. The pair had just come from the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at the Institute of Politics, where they spoke for more than an hour before television cameras and a large audience. The invite-only dinner afterward, which was attended by Harvard students as well as a handful of journalists and politicians, was declared on-the-record from the outset by Alex C. Jones, director of Harvard’s Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy, who moderated the dinner conversation.

Responding to Bernstein’s claim that the release of Plame’s identity was a “calculated leak” by the Bush administration, Woodward said flatly, “I know a lot about this, and you’re wrong.”

1. Woodward is a useless...
...hunk of flesh, a bush shill, and actively listening to what he has to say is willingly subjecting oneself to disinformation.

7. So he/she could be next door............
in the Old Executive Office Building. Woodward's word play with something this serious is an example of how much his journalistic skills have deteriorated over the years. He has an over inflated ego. Bob, you're nowhere near as big as you were before. You used to have integrity, or something that passed as integrity anyway. Now you're just another power whore, sucking up to any and all that will put a scrap of tainted information into you beggar's cup. Go away.

8. Talk about spin
"“His source was not in the White House, I don’t believe,” Woodward said of Novak . . ."

Now, rewrite that sentence, "I don’t believe his source was in the White House . . ."

They both say the same thing, but the way he said it makes it seem more certain. He adds his, "I don't believe" to cover himself for the future while still certain that many will read it as if he is sure.

22. I don't believe Woodward
He is covering for someone. If these clowns, Woodward and Novak, can't let us in on the little secret, maybe they need a little time behind bars.

One would think that an upstanding citizen of this country would stand up and out the leaker. All of a sudden the leak of dubby spying is important, but this leak of a Weapons Proliferation fighter is not.

26. Woodward Said Novak's Source "Was Not in the White House"
As reporters barraged the White House last week with renewed questions on the CIA leak case, one of the Washington press corps’ own may have been holding on to a key part of the mystery.

Bob Woodward, the Washington Post’s distinguished reporter and associate managing editor, has already faced scrutiny for his role in the disclosure of Valerie Plame’s undercover status at the CIA. But in a conversation at Harvard earlier this month, Woodward hinted that he knows the identity of yet another key player in the case: Robert D. Novak’s original source for his July 2003 column on Plame, which touched off the scandal in the first place.

How long did Woodward protect Deep Throat?

At this point, what he says to the public is irrelevent to the investigation, and should be scrutinized as a possible diversion.

36. How do we know for sure that the FBI guy trotted out recently.......
...is really Deep Throat? That guy can't even talk for himself these days.

How did a junior reporter like Woodward, with a year and a half of work experience in the field of journalism, develop the kind of sources he had during Watergate? How do we know that he's not protecting his intell sources from his buddies at the Office of Naval Intelligence?

My bet is on Woodward telling another lie.

32. I just hope he's off Bernstein's Christmas card list for good
Oh I know the irony. But now he's yapping his gums not about his source oh no no no, but about how much he can hint that he knows Novak's source whom we have been told, is the SAME source as his, (but he won't confirm oh no no no) and whom we have been told (by Novak) that Bush knows all about. Had enough?

WAIT. I've got it. Woodward is the source. Of course, he knows everything, everyone, and he is the penultimate leaker who never opens his mouth. Send my pultizer to: RagingHousewifeinpajamas.com

1. “His source was not in the White House, I don’t believe,” Woodward said of Novak over a private dinner at the Institute of Politics on Dec. 5. He did not indicate what information, if any, he had to corroborate the claim.

..........covering his butt with the I don't believe tag
, sounds like he is trying to get Novak/bushies off the hook without getting himself on the hook

2. Responding to Bernstein’s claim that the release of Plame’s identity was a “calculated leak” by the Bush administration, Woodward said flatly, “I know a lot about this, and you’re wrong.”

..........oops sounds like he hooked himself -- exactly how much does he know about this, he says he knows a lot -- does Fitzgerald know? More grand jury questioning in woodward's future?
