Bush: future generations will say "thank God" for perseverence Iraq

BETHESDA, Md. President Bush says future generations of Americans will say "thank God" for those who stood strong for freedom in Iraq.

He says the fight in Iraq is laying "the foundation for peace for generations to come."

The president was speaking to military care-givers at the Bethesda Naval Hospital outside Washington. Afterward, he visited privately with Marines injured in the Iraq fighting -- and was planning to award five Purple Hearts.

Bush says the fight in Iraq shows the current generation of Americans understands it's been "called to act" -- to "seize the moment" and defeat what he called the "dark" ideology of terrorism with "the ideology of freedom." But he says that task will require "determination and discipline."

will wonder why the American people allowed the theft of two elections, and a slide into fascism. They will link the name of G.W.B. with Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot. They will mourn that we didn't cherish our democracy more, and allowed all of this to happen.
