Bush administration urges quick settlement of New York transit strike

WHITE HOUSE (AP) - The Bush administration is urging both sides in the New York City transit strike to "come together" and quickly resolve their differences.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan says the strike is "unfortunate", and has been especially hard on seniors, the disabled and the poor.

McClellan says federal mediators are available to help the parties settle their dispute -- if they're invited.

However, he says the administration's barred by law from intervening in a transit strike.

2. Last night on ABC nightly news, the transit strike got 8 minutes of
air time and the NSA spying story got 3 minutes.
The slant on the transit strike was the woes of ridders (e.g. a man who couldn't get to his brother's wake). Nothing about working in a subway underground for your entire life.
The 3 minutes for spying was mostly filled with Dick Cheney's slobber.
I'll be clocking them again tonight.
