1. 2005 is the deadliest year for GIs in Afghanistan by far
With 99 US troops killed there this year. Compare that to 52 last year, 48 in 2003, and 48 in 2002.

The Taliban and Al Qaeda appear stronger than any time since the invasion.

3. The Taliban is reclaiming Afghanistan because Tommy Franks failed to

nail down the bad guys by insisting on keeping enough troops for the mission at hand. We lost focus on the "war on terror" and went into Iraq.

Add to that blunder, no capture of Osama Bin Ladin. Not even close.

Tommy Franks gets a "Medal of Freedom" for screwing up the mission.
