'Gag Ordered' Former Translator Seeks to Tell Congress and the American People What She Knows
Online Petition Launched Calling on Congress to Hold Joint Public Hearings by the Senate and House Judiciary Committees to Finally Allow the Truth of Her Allegations to be Told...

She's fought her case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. It was the very same day that the façade cracked on the front of the building and a chunk of marble -- just above an allegorical statue representing "Order" and just below the words "Equal Justice" -- came crashing to the ground. The highest court in the land refused to hear her case.

Along the way, the Dept. of Justice has done everything in their power (and then some) to keep her quiet. They invoked the rarely used "State Secrets Privilege" to shut her up -- going so far as to use it, without explanation, to remove her and her own attorneys from the courtroom when arguing their case against her.

In at least two unclassified Senate briefings, FBI officials confirmed the validity of her reports, but the information from those briefings was then retroactively classified by the DoJ -- which served to gag the Congress from further investigation on the matter! The DoJ even retroactively classified a 60 Minutes profile on her -- after it had already aired.

14. Remember Zaeef's old boss?
"The Taliban ambassador to Pakistan, who had been in Guantanamo prison for
some time, has been released with the help of the reconciliation programme," state
run Kabul National Television said.Zaeef had met the head of the reconciliation
programme, former president Sibghatullah Mojadidi, the television said. It gave no details and
Mojadidi was not immediately available for comment.
....
Zaeef's old boss, former foreign minister Wakil Ahmad Muttawakil who surrendered to U.S. troops
after the Taliban's ouster and was detained for about two years.

Where is Salam Zaeef Taliban Ambassador?

EX-STATE DEPT.SECURITY OFFICER SPELLS OUT 9/11 COVER-UP

Q A question yesterday was also how does someone become an
ex-terrorist, if you will, member of the Taliban?

MR. ERELI: Well, I guess -- all I can tell you about that is
that at the time he applied, for the purposes for which he wished the

United -- to come to the United States, and based on a review of his
activity in the past, it was determined that there was no basis for
ineligibility.

Put in simple English, I think what you can conclude from that is
-- well, if -- I don't know that if -- if he was indeed a member of
the Taliban, being a member of the Taliban, in and of itself, is not
-- was not necessarily and is not -- was not necessarily at the time,
given what he was doing and what -- he wanted to come to the United
States, a grounds for ineligibility.

32. Thanks Brad for doing what you are doing!
It's great to have someone like yourself helping her get more visibility! Somehow, I still wonder if it's going to be an uphill battle to get congress to consider this hearing or not. That is, unless we get some *huge* numbers of signatures and people demanding that she be heard quickly. If we could get a 10th of the attention that the U.A.E. ports issue is getting, I think we might have a shot. Perhaps we need to get moveon.org, DFA, PDA, or other bigger organizations to also send solicitations out for signing this petition too.

Edited on Fri Mar-03-06 08:23 PM by calipendence
It picked both Senators Feinsten and Boxer (expected), and both Duncan Hunter AND the now in prison "honorable" Duke Cunningham! That will be a no-op! :) Brad, is it supposed to not send it to Cunningham and send it to Duncan Hunter instead (who's not my congressman, though perhaps is my "surrogate" congress critter for the time being until at lest April 11th).

36. The total number of whistleblowers during this administration is truly
SCANDALOUS ! Sibel will probably have Salma Hayek play her once this story finally gets to be told. 9-11 and the other scandal, Ptech with whistleblower Indira Singh, will have to be explored also.

Bush's actions speak louder than words. They are complicit in covering up SOMETHING on 9-11, on this everyone can agree.

50. Timeline?
January 2002: The United States opens the prison at
Guantanamo. Most of the men now there were captured in 2001
during the U.S.-led war that drives the Taliban from power in
Afghanistan.

Aug. 29, 2005: Rakoff orders the government to ask each
detainee whether he or she wants personal identifying
information to be turned over to the AP as part of the lawsuit. Of
317 detainees who received the form, 63 said yes, 17 said no,
35 returned the form without answering and 202 declined to
return the form.

41. More here...
Find illegal activity in the U.S. national security agency you work for. Report it to your superiors. Get rewarded by being demoted or having your security clearance revoked -- tantamount to losing your career – while those whose conduct you’ve reported get promoted.

This was the picture painted to a House of Representatives committee last week, as its members heard from five soldiers and civilians who say their livelihoods and reputations have been destroyed or placed in serious jeopardy by their attempts to expose and correct waste, fraud or abuse in their workplaces.

They are known as “national security whistleblowers”. And, unlike whistleblowers in civilian agencies of the U.S. government, they have little legal protection against retaliation.

The House Committee is chaired by Representative Christopher Shays, a Republican from Connecticut. But, in a rare occurrence in the current contentious political climate in Washington, he is receiving virtually unanimous bipartisan support for efforts to develop legislation to fix the problem.

Am I missing something? I didn't see any news there at all, Late Breaking or otherwise. Just a rehash of the old SE saga, and BB's petition.

Where did "Folks, it looks like she's ready to talk now!" come from?

I'm tired now, and cranky, and badly need a nap. Is there actually something there, and I just missed it? 48 replies on this topic so far, and there's nothing there?
