UNC Official: Man in US attack sought to avenge Muslims
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N04164118.htm

MIAMI, March 4 (Reuters) - An Iranian man who plowed a car into a crowd of students at the University of North Carolina wanted to avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world, a university official said on Saturday.

Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, a recent graduate of the university, was charged with nine counts of attempted first-degree murder and nine counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after driving into students outside a cafeteria on the Chapel Hill campus.

No one was seriously injured in Friday's incident.

"Our ongoing investigation indicates that the suspect's motive was to avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world," Derek Poarch, the university's director of public safety, said according to the transcript of a news conference.

"There is every indication in this early stage of the investigation that he acted alone. There is no indication whatsoever that he acted in concert with anyone."

4. How nice that he wanted to get revenge at the place where he got
a education by plowing into his fellow students who have nothing to do with dead Muslims. Maybe he should have tried that at the WH and he would have gotten a rocket launcher up his tailpipe. What a idiot, give him the Darwin award.

5. i get bashed every time i try to explain Reason is not an aspect of Islam
they never had an Age of Reason like the west... they have never had a reformation to collectively define what 'Belief' in islam means means.. or what Islam is and isn't.

i get the feeling that they dont criticize an extremest who says he is on a mission from god to go kill as many infidels as possible.. because he might be..not that they themselves would do that.

when i say they dont use reason i dont mean universally.. i am sure there are educated Muslims that do, and i lived in an Islamic country and the Moors i ran around with were really wonderful and were starving for education.. when i left Dakar i gave my Huge Cassells French/english/French dictionary to Mahamedu who was the Peace Corps House Boy and he cried.. nay, Bawled with deep heaving sobs that shook his whole body as he held the book to his chest and rolled on the floor.. i was later told that book was worth a years wages and it meant he could study at home for a Peace Corps scholarship to go to university in the United States.

i figured that was why i really was sent there, we were sent to teach Tworag slaves to grow gardens for their masters, slavery is instutionalized in islam in that area. they sold 6 and 10 yrar olf children stolen form the moors for $35 in 'Open slave markets' on the street in Dakar.. and were still selling them when Bu$he declared slavery ended during his visit there .. but you cant garden in the Sahara desert, it was to just get a foot hold in Mauritania.

7. The talaban chief who blew up the Buddhist Statues is now a student at Yale
now these guys threw battery acid in the faces of women who didn't wear a veil and shot them in the back of the head in public executions with cheers at the spurting blood.. there was plenty of gang raping of un-escorted women too.

a lot of women starved who couldn't work and whose husbands were killed by them

and 6 Home Land Security agents suround, fined and threaten to arrest a guy in NOLA who heard FEMA was taking names for something, so he went to give away his Tee Shirts that didnt sell that said

'I got Blown by Katrina and Screwed by FEMA' and all i got was this stinking Tee shirt..

what the hell is going on..??

9. I'm sure this guy will get the punishment he deserves
I can't imagine a guy who professes such a motive getting any leniency in these times.

Let's just try to not universalize from this guy to a group of people as a whole. That's for the aforementioned Michelle Malkin, Anne Coulter, Hannity, Limpballs, O'Shithead and their ilk to do.

Why is this not being treated as a terrorist attack on our shores?

Why are we fighting the enemy over there....when we should be fighting the enem(ies) over here?

12. Shades of Lizzie Grubman!
However, if you're going to plow into a crowd of innocent people, it helps to be a rich and well connected PR star:

13. I have no idea how to respond to this. In 1976* we had an Iranian
exchange student in Muskogee, Oklahoma of all places. His name was Reza something-or-other (I gather it's a name like Smith or Jones here) and he was one of the nicest kids I ever knew. We used to take him out partying and he seemed genuinely accepting of our western culture and we talked about his as well. We thought some of his ideas were odd but it didn't prevent us from becoming friends.

* I might be off 1 or 2 years but it was when the Shah was still running the show over there...before the nutball Ayatollah Khomeni took over. But of course I have no way of knowing if he may have turned into a fanatic
later.

14. Odds are very good that kid's family was a member of the administration,
as it were. A lot of senior government officials sent their kids to the states for school, and Oklahoma and Texas were very popular locations. After the revolution, a lot of Persians settled in Los Angeles--you can get some good Iranian food out that way. There's quite a few in TX as well. The weather is similar, hence the attraction.

Reza is an old and very common Persian name. The Shah's father was Reza Muhamad, the Shah was Muhamad Reza, and the son (the Shah in exile, so he says. living outside DC) is Reza Muhamad.

Odds are good that kid got out, and his parents did, if they possibly could. There was a massive exodus from 76 to even after the revolution in 79.
