19 Groups to Reinstate Boycott of Ford

WASHINGTON — Nineteen conservative groups said Monday they would reinstate a boycott
of Ford Motor Co., contending the automaker reneged on an agreement to stop supporting
gay rights organizations.

The groups set up a Web site urging supporters not to buy Ford vehicles after the automaker
said last December it would continue running advertisements in gay publications. The American
Family Association, which is leading this latest effort, had originally called for a boycott
of Ford last year but suspended it for six months at the request of some Ford dealers.

"Ford has the right to financially support homosexual groups promoting homosexual marriage,
but at the same time consumers have a right not to purchase automobiles made by Ford," said AFA
Chairman Donald Wildmon in a statement.

Ford, in a statement, said it was "proud of its tradition of treating all with respect and
we remain focused on what we do best, building and selling the most innovative cars and trucks
worldwide." Ford spokeswoman Kathleen Vokes declined further comment.

1. I got an email from AFA on this (I'm on their mailing list)
but I couldn't do much with this one... sometimes they have a form where you can write and complain to a congressman, etc, in which case I write them support "from an AFA member"

sadly, their petition only allows you to add your name, not any other info, so I had to leave it alone :(

12. Sadly, not new at all
Although, I will concede that there seems to be much more of it around now than when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s.

15. They only stop when WE stop them
that's it. that's the dirty lil' secret. there are crazy, mindless killers and destroyers in this world and here they are. they won't stop. they have to be MADE to stop. so, when is the rest of america interested in stopping them?
until people get fed up enough and choose the only viable answer this will continue. not all problems have a happy, friendly, tidy solution. until then, i'm going to enjoy fruity cocktails by the beach. eventually people will get it.

13. Thats the best thing you can do for them
Buying american almost killed our automotive industry. Buy the best car and force them to provide adiquate answers to other manufacturers.

Hey fundies--- let your extremist-freak flags fly! Do your worst.

Your help is crucial to us taking back the Congress in 2006 and Feingold in the White House.

10. Ford Boycott
According to buyblue.org 77% of Ford Motor Company's political contributions went to the republican party so wouldn't the neos boycotting them be to our benefit?

11. Note the easy target/reason...
for advertising in "gay publications" (whatever). You'll note that these same fundies don't have a damn thing to say about Ford advertising (most likely, I'm guessing) in Playboy and/or Penthouse, or things along that line. Easy to attack "gay publication" but tough to go after publications that half your "flock" sneak peeks at.
