BBC: Menezes claim sparks libel talks (top cop sues, er, cops)
Scotland Yard's Deputy Assistant Commissioner Brian Paddick has said he is in talks with libel lawyers over a Metropolitan Police statement.

Mr Paddick said he claimed one of Met chief Sir Ian Blair's private staff thought police had shot an innocent man in London six hours after the death.

But the Met responded that the claim about the Tube shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes was "simply not true".

Mr Paddick said that amounted to accusing him of lying.
