Afghan Lawmakers Demand Convert Be Held

By DANIEL COONEY, Associated Press Writer 17 minutes ago

KABUL, Afghanistan -
Afghanistan's parliament demanded Wednesday that the government prevent a man who faced the death penalty for abandoning Islam for Christianity from being able to flee the country.

Abdul Rahman, 41, was released from prison Monday after a court dropped charges of apostasy against him because of a lack of evidence and suspicions he may be mentally ill. President Hamid Karzai had been under heavy international pressure to drop the case.

Rahman was released from the high-security Policharki prison on the outskirts of the capital late Monday. Justice Minister Mohammed Sarwar Danish said Tuesday that Rahman was staying at a "safe location" in Kabul.

His current whereabouts are unknown but he likely is still in the country.

He's going to have to deal with the theocracy of our own creation in place of a theocracy?

Well, at least it's a less bloody theocracy, by far. At the moment.

3. That's the problem; any Theocracy that isn't bloody, hasn't had
to be yet. But it will, eventually. That is the nature of oppression - it is always headed for bloodshed.

The one thing that all Americans, and the government in particular, ignores and wants to lie about is that the Taliban were not usurpers. They were the legitimate government and had wide support. They were and are religious thugs, totalitarian purists who had/has no concept of humanity, humaneness, or compassion - typical theocrats of any stripe. But they were not unpopular within their own country, sadly enough...

5. Hard to believe a communist government ruled the country.
It's almost unfathomable that a communist party seized power in the first place and managed to maintain power for a year and a half before the Soviet invasion. Interestingly, the communist government maintained far more control nationally than does the current puppet government under US bayonets.
