PBS host Charlie Rose to undergo surgery in Paris
Wed Mar 29, 2006

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Charlie Rose, host of the PBS interview program of the same name, was to undergo heart surgery in Paris early on Wednesday and will be away from the show for several weeks to recuperate, a spokesman for the television anchor said.

Rose was to undergo mitral valve repair, spokesman Howard Rubenstein said in statement. The surgery was to take place at 7:30 a.m. local time.

Rose was admitted to The Georges-Pompidou European Hospital on Saturday, a day after he was examined by cardiologists there, Rubenstein said.

After consulting with his own cardiologist in New York, Rose flew on Friday to Paris from Syria where he had been on location for his television program.

"Rose experienced shortness of breath while in Syria last week for his interview with President Assad," Rubenstein said....

1. He can't do that, France doesn't have American standards of medical care
and besides with commie medicine like they got there, there'll be a million A-Rab foreigners ahead of him in line to see a doctor...

2. I never thought Charlie was particularly smart; but if he's gone
to Paris instead of flying back here for his surgery, he's smarter than I thought he was.

Best of luck to him!
