2 dead after Robertson’s plane crashes in Conn.
GROTON, Conn. - A Learjet registered to religious broadcaster Pat Robertson crashed in Long Island Sound while flying in heavy fog Friday, killing both pilots, authorities said. All three passengers escaped without serious injury.

Robertson was not aboard. “I am deeply grieved and my heart reaches out to the families and to the people on the plane,” he said in a statement.

The twin-engine plane went down a half-mile short of the runway at Groton-New London Airport. Authorities said the passengers were able to get out on their own and were pulled from the water and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Alas, God did not call Pat home.

10. How crude. What was God telling Wellstone? Kennedy?
Any other innocent victim of an accident?

17. Crude...maybe, but if you owned a plane that crashed, wouldn't you
at least think...."Oh man, that could have been me"?

24. sounds like pilot error
or instrument failure? Taking off in adverse weather conditions is definitely pilot judgement.

I wonder who the passengers were that were so important that they gave their lives.
I'm sorry for the families' loss.

20. I think the poster was implying
Pat's tendency to invoke God's wrath whenever something tragic happens (like Katrina or 9/11).

21. Unlike Wellstone, Robertson regularly proclaims catastrophes are
God's wrath on the victims. He's just getting a little of his own medicine. I think the crew were perhaps being punished for following a false prophet.

35. They followed a false prophet by leasing a jet owned by a company owned by
Robertson? What kind of sick logic are you operating on? Get off the koolaid!

38. My point is that his targets are capricious...one of those capricious
targets hit close enough to his home that one think he would get an equally strong message from God out of the event.

3. Robertson wasn't involved at all. The airplane was being used for
a charter by another company.

14. Read the article. The airplane was being used as a charter, unrelated to
Robertson or his business. The pilots were apparently flying some golfers somewhere. The only relationship between Robertson and this accident is that he or his business is the registered owner of the airplane. I can't stand Robertson, either, but this accident had absolutle nothing to do with him, any more than if I owned a car rental business and somebody I didn't know rented my car and had an accident with it.

5. Surprising that when God was speaking directly to Pat ...
... only a week or so ago about major storms hitting the US this summer, he forgot to give him a heads-up on his pilots being killed.

So what's the spin going to be on this one?

(a) These men died doing the Lord's work, or
(b) These men were evil-doers and the Lord struck them down

Hmmmm ....

9. Pat is actually deeply, sadly disturbed
That plane was full of his "blood diamonds" pulled from the ground from Robertson's own mines on the back of slave laborers, and sold around the world to finance civil wars.

Tonight, Robertson will drink his powershake, leg-press 2,000 pounds, and cry for the loss of his diamonds.

You know who's to blame for this?

Abortionists, liberals, and professional volleyball players.

25. Hello Pat, this is GOD. I know you've claimed you talk to me
but we BOTH know you don't. I know you are a nasty little phony holding the Prince of Darkness's hand.

now, in you last days, before you descend into the pit, I'll give you one chance to understand the message this time is meant for YOU. Repent NOW, apologize to everyone you lied to about ME, and give back the treasure you've stolen to the needy, oh, and go tell Hugo he needs to repent too.

Your Teacher, GOD.

26. OK, Pat, what did Gawd have against those pilots?
Robertson believes in the angry Gawd of pestilence, natural disasters and impotence. According to Pat, nothing bad happens without it's a "sign of Gawd's displeasure with us".

Or perhaps Gawd, for whom a second is like 10,000 years to us, needed some news Learjet jockeys and got impatient?
