Supreme Court Faces Shortage of Cases
WASHINGTON (AP) - Chief Justice John Roberts said last fall he would like to see the Supreme Court take up more cases. So far, however, his arrival has had the opposite effect.

Justices are running well behind in filling their argument calendar for the term that begins in the fall. They have accepted 18 cases, compared with 27 by this time last year and 32 in 2004.

Many of the cases they have agreed to consider are technical rather than potentially groundbreaking.

So, like all good Bushites, to find the truth, simply invert what they say.
More=Less
War=Peace
Prosperity=Poverty

See?

8. Ah Yes "Long Dong Silver"
SENATOR HATCH: Did you ever refer to your private parts in conversations with Professor Hill?

JUDGE THOMAS: Absolutely not, Senator.

SENATOR HATCH: Did you ever brag to Professor Hill about your sexual prowess?

JUDGE THOMAS: No, Senator.

SENATOR HATCH: Did you ever use the term "Long Dong Silver" in conversation with Professor Hill?

JUDGE THOMAS: No, Senator.

SENATOR HATCH: Did you ever have lunch with Professor Hill at which you talked about sex or pressured her to go out with you?

13. Cheney Sould Invite Scalia on Another Hunting Trip
With such a light calendar, Justice Scalia should have plenty of time
for more hunting trips with the Vice President.

I have changed my mind about this. I completely approve of Cheney and
Scalia going hunting together, and they should take Justice Thomas and
Justice Alito with them too.

I'll chip in on the beer :beer::beer::beer:
Have another, Dick, there still another keg.

2. Maybe people want less fascist decisions?
I wouldn't want to bring a case to the Bush Court

5. Are they gaming the schedule to manipulate wingnut turnout in Nov?
-Or maybe postponing wingnut-crushing cases until after?

6. They should be forced to rule on abortion, gay marriage, and immigration.
And when the Right doesn't get what they want from this Republican SCOTUS, maybe they'll finally figure out that they will never give them what they want.

The GOP just wants their money.

12. Be Careful What You Ask For
as long as they don't rule on abortion, Roe stands.
If a case makes it to the Supreme Court and they accept it,
they will probably weaken Roe significantly, at least,
and they might overturn it entirely.

If they rule on any of these other issues, we probably won't like the result either.

7. It takes 4 (of 9) yes votes to hear a case
If it takes four votes among the justices to agree to hear a case, which it does, could it be that the block of Alito, Roberts, Scalia, and Thomas isn't as solid as Bush had hoped?

BWAHAAHHAHAHAHAAHHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

10. Why should the SCOTUS bother their beautiful minds with law?
If you need another Bush vs Gore decision, then page them. Otherwise the Felonious 5 are far to busy being superior to us lesser mortals to spend time on things like law.

11. This is good news for the mid-terms
As we've all noticed most of the right-wing religous voters don't really pay attention to the constitution or how things are supposed to work. I think a big majority of them probably thought "Great we've got control of the court, now Bush just needs to ask them to make abortion illegal, move all gays to California, etc". They don't get the fact of how the court works, that North Dakota law will take years to make it to the SC as will others. When election time comes they'll think "He's broken his promises, etc." and sit this one out.
