University Town Passes Resolution Calling for Iraq Pullout (Boulder, CO)
AP

Boulder passes a resolution calling for a pullout of US forces from Iraq, but set no timetable.

The resolution was passed after a four-hour hearing yesterday that drew about 70 people, many wearing anti-war shirts and buttons.

Some were disappointed no deadline was set, but Councilman Shaun McGrath setting a date would destroy the resolution's credibility.

Go, Boulder! Now let's start seeing more towns doing this and we might start getting some talk in Washington.

1. Only 70 people - I would have expected more - Boulder was.................
.....and hopefully still is very liberal. The saying in Colorado used to be "as goes Boulder so goes Denver eventually".

3. Boulder's grown far beyond a college town
It's one of the country's major high-tech centers. Which makes the passage of this resolution even more encouraging, I think.

I've worked there from time to time, and as far as I can tell, the growth and changes in the city haven't made it not liberal, although I'm sure that the nature of the liberalism has changed.

4. I'm looking for the most liberal town in the US to move too.?????
If you live in this town and can offer me a job, I'll move next month. I live in Spartanburg, SC - I'm about to loose my mind here - S.O.S

Send me an email

5. I can't offer anyone a job, but Boulder's a good place to look for one
If you're in the high-tech field, that is. Boulder is part of the Denver metro area, which is generally liberal(ish) and Democratic(ish). If you're in high tech, look for openings in Denver and within, say, 50 miles of Denver.

6. I would expect this from a progressive town like Boulder...
but if and when this comes from Colorado Springs that would mean something substantial.

7. I'm with Murtha, redeploy
is the better sound bite, AND the better strategy at the same time.

More flexibility.
