GNC drops Pat Robertson's muscle drink
NEW YORK, June 5 (UPI) -- U.S. nutritional supplement firm GNC Corp. will no longer sell a protein drink associated with the Rev. Pat Robertson, a noted televangelist.

The corporation, which did not elaborate on the reason for its move, comes despite high praise from the drink's creator, the head of the Christian Broadcasting Network, The New York Times reported Monday.

Robertson, 76, credits his "protein shake" with the ability to leg press 2,000 pounds -- 665 pounds more than the current world record.

Last August GNC began selling a form of Robertson's health drink, which it obtained from an Ohio company, Basic Organics. The recipe for the drink remains available on the Christian Broadcasting Network's Web site.

2. LOL...I wonder how many pulled/ripped muscles, torn cartilage and
assorted other injuries were the result of trying that 2000 lb. leg lift after consumption.

5. Probably do not want to be sued when someone gets hurt trying
to lift more weights than they are actually physically capable of.

7. Or just for false advertising? KO mentioned that no equipment
goes that high in weight for leg presses. I don't do gyms, so don't know about the doo-dads there. Anybody have info about it?

10. From the leg sleds I've seen...
The sled itself is normally 50 pounds, and you could probably stack three to four 100 pound plates on each side so that would be a maximum of 850 pounds. The guy who lifted over 1300 did it on a sled that had been modified to accomodate more weight.

13. That pretty well aligns with what Olbermann pointed out
So, did Robertson use a plank and a bevy of beauties whose collective weight added up to 2000 pounds or is he just a lying blowhard out to make a fast buck? :D

Either way, GNC's lawyers must have been watching Olbermann and looked into the lie-ability issues.

6. Robertson is certifiable.
665 pounds more than the current world record. Yeah, right. And after that he is going to pull 10 tractor trailers with his teeth.

Gee must be the wrong hat Pat Robertson. I wonder how many of Robertson’s followers believe that it was the truth and how many are going to become excuse makers for him. I can hear it now "God's power cannot be judged by guiness or any man made records." I just got to wonder when the followers of such insane frivolous little men will wake up. I know the first thing they will say when they do come to grips with reality; it will probably sound something like this..."I believed what? No...Not me! You have to be kidding right? No, that's just not possible for anyone to be that stupid! That wasn't me it must have been someone who looked like me." To which the sane ones in society must say "Ahh Bullwinkle that lie never works."

9. I guess everyone missed Robertson's response
Robertson didn't actually say this, his staff did, "you thought he meant all at once?" then laughed.

11. If Robertson is any kind of health nut
Then he would know that you don't phrase it the way it was phrased. If I bench 200 pounds ten times, that doesn't mean I've lifted 2000 pounds.

15. I saw the video of his allged leg press of 2000 lbs
It was only 1000lbs, and it was only for 2-3 inches. He couldn't do 225 lbs full range of motion. He also used his hands on his knees to help.

18. Let's settle this
Get Guinness to set up and oversee Pat Robertson's new attempt to set the record straight . . .

Guinness is the accepted standard, right? So, if Pat was able to get up to 2000 pounds, he should be able to work his way up (easily) to just surpass the official record . . . in less time than when he claims he did the extreme surpassing of the official record . . .

Can't he just pray for superhuman strength?

What sort of black magic is in that witches brew anyway?

23. Look at robertson's video - its a BS press
Any person who does REAL leg presses will look at the piece of shit leg press that Robertson does and see how he can "lift" 1000 lbs. First, he only goes down about a foot, not all the way down that a normal leg press should go. Second, he holds his thighs with his arms, so that adds some force up, making the lift easier. And third, he does his presses so fast that it doesn't do much - it's like doing leg lifts for abs on a "king's chair" - if you do them super fast, they don't do anything.

First of all, I doubt it was really 1000 lbs., but if it actually was, the presses are bogus.
