Bush Says Deportation 'Ain't Gonna Work'
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=2053431&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312

WASHINGTON Jun 8, 2006 (AP)— Rejecting an argument being made by some conservatives in his own party, President Bush said Thursday that the idea that the United States could force millions of illegal immigrants to return home "ain't gonna work."

Bush told a gathering of Hispanic leaders that the immigration system is broken and Congress needs to pass "commonsense" reform that strengthens the border while allowing more foreigners in to work temporarily and giving those who sneaked in years ago a chance to become citizens.

"There are those here in Washington who say, `Why don't we just find the folks and send them home,'" Bush said. "That ain't gonna work."

Bush's remarks came during a 15-minute speech at the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in which he also talked about his faith in God. "I rely upon the Almighty for strength and comfort," Bush told the participants gathered in a hotel ballroom just a couple blocks from the White House.

(end snip)

Ain't? Who has a Yale education and says "ain't"? I long for a President who can speak 1 language. Any language. When god talks to Smirky, does she say "ain't"?

3. He looks pathetic.
At first he wouldn't allow Democrats to attend his speeches. Now he is cutting Republicans out by speaking to people who often aren't even American citizens.

6. He was speaking to "Hispanic leaders"
Clue: Quite a few "Hispanics/Latinos/whatevers" are US citizens. Some naturalized, mostly native born.

9. No shit Sherlock, that's why I said "often".
The students at Metro Community College, where he spoke yesterday are studying for their citizenship test.

Clue: Americans don't study for citizenship tests.

My husband and kids are native born hispanic U.S. citizens, so I am well aware that a person can be both.

15. They won't be deported. Halliburton is building camps for them RIGHT HERE!
Some of those camps will probably also become "Alternative Work Program" camps for "Conscientious Objectors" duiring the next few wars.

16. ''Ain't gonna'' and similar faux folksy phrases...
...work well on hayseeds, hillbillies and carnival rubes; that's about half the current GOP base.

Other GOPuke figures have been trying to sell the ''self-deportation'' con. This bunch pretends to believe that 12-20 million illegals plus their legal relatives and US-born children are going to leave the country at their own expense, then wait up to 10 years for re-entry aa indentured servants if they're lucky, then wait 5-10 more years for citizenship. Not even the Freepers are buying it.

20. No it really won't
Because it would be a massive and expensive process, assuming that we could find the political will to do it from either party. Enforcement at the workplace is the only real solution. Take away the jobs and there would be a massive exodus. Employers who are caught with illegal workers need to go to jail and face onerous fines. Do that and suddenly the job market would go poof!!! It's all about cutting off the incentive to come to the U.S. not deportation, not demonizing the people trying to get a better life. This could be done, but neither party has the will to do it.

21. Well, he's right. They'll just come back. It used to be a joke,
maybe still is, that five came for every one the INS sent back.

This is a natural migration and should be worked with and not against.

Not everything is worth it.

Even the US doesn't have endless money for enforcement.
