Powell Says Border Walls Won't Work
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Thursday that extending walls along the U.S.-Mexico border will not solve the problem of illegal immigration. ``The Berlin Wall did not work perfectly and the wall that the Israelis are putting up is not going to work perfectly,'' Powell said. ``So, a wall alone is not the answer.''

An immigration measure approved by the U.S. Senate offers illegal immigrants a chance at citizenship while extending fences along the border. The House passed a measure making all illegal immigrants subject to felony charges. Negotiations to reconcile the proposals have yet to begin. Powell, speaking at a business conference in Mexico City, said any new barriers should include gates and other entrances to provide easy-access between both countries.

He said U.S. authorities should let many of the estimated 12 million undocumented migrants already in America earn some form of legal status through expanded temporary-worker programs. ``We have to find a way for them to live in dignity and not in fear,'' he said.

Exit in building in AZ border town.. big enough for vehicles. How is a wall gonna solve the problem when drug money can get tunnels built?

edited to add:
Like EVERY solution to a problem offered by the junta, this wall thing is purely cosmetic. All show, no substance, no solutions to anything.

4. Yes, people should have studied Powell's actions in the past

for they were "picture perfect" at predicting his future mis-behavior ...

I resigned my Regular Army Commission after four years of honorable active duty service as well as selection to Captain. I did this due to nothing specific ... just a feeling of dread. Without a clear reason why, both my family and friends thought I was half-NUTS for leaving all that I trained for. But I knew it was what I MUST DO. My Resignation was accepted TWO months before things geared up for the first Desert Storm. Like my father could sense certain demolitions during WWII as a Combat Engineer, I had "a sense" that it was time to sever ties with the active duty military.

We, as long as we are free USA Citizens, must continue to insist that our troops are brought home A.S.A.P.

Nothing good will come out of our continued occupation of either IRAQ or AFGHANISTAN. :(

6. The garbage heap of history
Knowing full well that he was lying, he lied at length before the U.N. to justify war.

That he expunged the claims of Hussein's nuclear programs, even though this was just a scant bit after Junior's State of the Union Address, is no real achievement.

This man is filth. He knew better and he played both sides of the street.

In common parlance, he's over. He's so over it's just silly.

Broken Record
Lou Dobbs' daily 'Broken Borders' CNN segment has focused on immigration for years. But there's one issue Dobbs just won't take on.
By Heidi Beirich and Mark Potok

.... ...In recent months, Dobbs has run countless upbeat reports on the "citizen border patrols" that have sprung up around the country since last April's Minuteman Project, a paramilitary effort to seal the Arizona border.
But there's one thing Lou Dobbs won't do. No matter what others report about the movement, Dobbs has failed to present mounting and persistent evidence of anti-Hispanic racism in anti-immigration groups and citizen border patrols. ....

Many more SPLC links on DOBBS here: http://www.splcenter.org/search/s-query.html?tx0=Lou+Dobbs&op0=%2B&fl0=&ty0=w&col=splcall&ht=0&qp=&qt=&qs=&qc=&pw=100%25&la=en&qm=0&st=1&oq=&rq=0&ql=a&si=0&x=24&y=11

8. Colin Powell resigned in disgrace 11/12/2004
History will show that he was instrumental in perpetrating one of the greatest frauds ever.

His dog-and-pony show in front of the UN was his undoing.

He shall forever be branded as a LIAR.
