Zogby Poll: Catching Osama No Remedy For Bush
Released: June 08, 2006

Sagging job approval numbers wouldn't get a boost, a new Zogby Interactive survey shows

With President Bush's job approval numbers languishing in the low 30s, not even Osama bin Laden can come to the rescue, a new Zogby Interactive survey shows.

And Wednesday's death of Iraqi al-Qaeda leader Al-Zarqawi is unlikely to improve the President's numbers, Pollster John Zogby said.

Asked how much credit would be due President Bush if bin Laden were caught, 52% said they would give him no credit because he turned his attention instead to Iraq after the war on Afghanistan. Twenty-eight percent would give him all the credit, while 17% said he would deserve some of the credit.

The President's job approval rating in fighting against terrorism would be at 42% if bin Laden were found, the poll shows, which is about where he is right now - with bin Laden still on the loose. A Zogby telephone poll in may showed his job approval for fighting terrorism at 41%, which was down from 44% in February.

It's been almost 5 years since 9-11, and Osama bin Laden is still at large and still killing Americans. When it comes to fighting terror, Bush is a failure.

4. But Al Zarq is such a big catch
If OBL is marginalized, Al Zarq is marginalized #2, so * has a problem with logic and consistency there, oh well, that never bothered a freeper.

3. Unless there is a massive media propaganda campaign when they "get Osama"
Press releases, fake call-ins, 144 hours of continuous coverage on all the corporate cable news networks, etc.

5. I'm a lifelong Democrat, & I'm concerned that my party can't fit terra...
Cue the concern trolls.

You are absolutely right--the Zogby poll is an honest appraisal of facts as they're perceived now.

But trot out OBL, let Tweety, Timmeh and the rest of the corporate media whores fellate this administration in a weeklong orgy of glowing stories (and the usual RW noise machine flanking move to condemn all those "pink turban liberals" who dare question the official version of his capture/killin'), and I'm sure the numbers will be higher.

Who knows how high they'd go. Who knows just how gullible Joe and Jane Sixpack really are?

6. Bush has worked hard for his low approval numbers
It's probably not realistic to think that he can undo all that work with just one or two minor slip-ups.

Certainly the Mighty Republican Wurlitzer will strive to maximize the impact of this negligible improvement in the overall world situation. But as anxious as Bush and his corrupt cohort are to write history immediately after one of their rare "successes," the aftermath and the fallout of Al-Zarqawi's death will go on for quite some time. Increased violence is sure to follow, and we'll see who is more dedicated: The Bushistas to more wealth they can't spend, or religious fanatics to their cause.

12. And the Dec 7th planner, Yamamoto, had been whacked in 497 days.....
Roosevelt personally approved his greasing. We had the Japanese naval code and any hint that we had it would have caused Japan to change. So it was with much deliberation that Roosevelt gave the go ahead to wack Yamamoto when the navy got the schedule of his trips. 4/18/1943 we ambushed and whacked his ass.

Too bad all we have now is an AWOL/moron too stupid to attack the guy who attacked us on 9/11/01.

13. Two theater war against two world powers and we give up our civil rights
to chase around the 20,000 guys tops who ever passed through an al Qaeda camp.

If it was really an issue of getting even for 9/11, we could have done that Mossad style, hunted down all the planners and killed or captured them.

Clearly, Bush is more interested in using 9/11 to pursue other goals.

The liberal media would have a "Days Osama Has Remained Free" counter on every station.
