Feingold: Redeploying from Iraq, Refocusing on Terrorist Networks
I commend our military forces for their success in targeting Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. The death of this ruthless terrorist, who led an insurgent campaign of brutal suicide bombings, kidnappings and hostage beheadings in Iraq, is great news for the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people. It is also a testament to the professionalism and capability of the men and women in the U.S. military and the effectiveness of well-planned and targeted operations.

Al-Zarqawi's death, however, will not end the insurgency that has pushed Iraq into a violent downward spiral. As we herald this significant accomplishment, we also near a very sad marker: the 2,500th death of an American soldier in Iraq. As long as large numbers of U.S. troops remain indefinitely in Iraq, that tragic death toll will continue to rise, because Iraq will remain a crucible for the recruitment and development of a wide range of terrorist networks determined to fight so-called American 'occupiers.

5. Wow. If I'd known in 2004 that he was gonna call 'em
"so-called" occupiers, I wouldn't have voted for him. Pardon me. I gotta go out & tear the Feingold 2008 strickers off my car.

BTW that first "r" in "strickers" is a typo. I was gonna correct it but then I thought I'd leave it for you to nitpick about.

2. Bush and his PNACers have unleashed terrorism on the whole world
.
.
.

George's using of 911 to invade Iraq, destroying it's secure borders has made it a haven for terrorists, and incited the Eastern/Muslim/Islam people with intense hatred for the "West", including Canada.

I do not fault the Eastern people for this hatred, I fault the Administration of the USA, and the electorate that allowed this to happen.

George said it quite correctly years ago (but he had no idea how accurate he was) - that this is indeed a "crusade"

And a religious one at that

Bombs and bullets do not change people's beliefs

Only intelligent dialogue

Something the USA seems to be incapable of

(sigh)

3. Yep
This has been a crusade from the very beginning, led by cheney, rummy and the decider. Two goals: Christianity vrs. Islam, with a permanent presence in Iraq for the U.S. - and oil. I see no other rational explanation, based on what we know so far. And what we don't know scares the shit out of me.
