Records for 150,000 Colo. Voters Missing
June 11, 2006, 12:12 AM EDT

DENVER -- Records containing personal information on more than 150,000 voters are missing at city election offices, and officials are trying to determine if the files were lost, moved or stolen.

The Denver Election Commission is also trying to figure out why officials didn't learn the records were missing until June 1, even though they are believed to have disappeared nearly four months earlier.

"We will get to the bottom of it," commission spokesman Alton Dillard told the Rocky Mountain News in Saturday's editions.

Police were notified about the missing records Saturday. The microfilmed voter registration files from 1989 to 1998 were in a 500-pound cabinet that disappeared when the commission moved to new offices in February. The files contain voters' Social Security numbers, addresses and other personal information.

The Repugs are going to do everything they can to invalidate the results of the 2006 election. Expect a lot more of this nonsense.

3. It took a temp worker to uncover this!
"The missing files were first reported May 31 on a Web log run by Lisa Jones, a former temporary worker at the election commission. Officials said City Councilwoman Judy Montero saw the blog and told them about it the next day.

Jones said she believes commission officials knew of the lost files by April."

This smells. You know Rove would have his laser beam on purple Colorado and especially Denver.

Edit: Did you see the "Ahmadinejad" postings on that blog? It's easy to find them since the blog originated in May '06.

5. Yes. They're going for broke this year. They have to.
Bush handed them HAVA and then he screwed the pouch.

Expect them to throw everything they can at the elections.

9. It's not nonsense, unfortunately
It's part of a continuation of their strategy of negating the right
of people to vote for a Democrat. Like all clever conspiracies, rather
than cover it up, do it blatantly, call it an accident or a glitch, and
go on as if nothing was amiss. And to them, there isn't.

11. As a Denver resident....
maybe we should get Paul Hackett on this.

I'm getting sick of this crap. They're scared...plain and simple. Coloradoans can smell bullshit from a mile away. While they fooled some of us by just enough in '04, those days are long gone.

Even the most diehard Bush apologists that I know (except my stubborn Father) are sick of the Republicans in office.

Enough is enough.

13. Plus how many lists of 'inactive' voters have they stolen?
This is where they mine for votes. This is why Repugs love absentee ballots so much over early voting. It's a lot harder to cheat with EV.

14. This tactic is similar to what happened in Ohio
with Tom Noe and his wife's help. They use whatever dirty tricks they can muster. Noe decided to change his not guilty plea to GUILTY, concenring his campaign contributions to the Bush/Cheney reSelection bid.

The top of the state Repubs knew about his sheningans well before the election, but suppressed the information.

According to Bill Frogameni in Salon.com on October 6, 2005, the Blade's chief political columnist, Fritz Wenzel, was told of Noe's campaign finance violations as early as January 2004, but never gave the information to the Blade.

He learned of the violations from a Republican by the name of Joe Kidd, who was then the director of the Board of Elections, who was actually fueding with Bernadette Noe at the time, and retaliated against her by telling Wenzel that Noe was illegally funneling money to the Bush-Cheney campaign and running a questionable coin investment with the state.

According to Salon, sources confirmed that Kidd told them he had this conversation with Wenzel at the time.

However, as it turns out, both Wenzel and his son had personal relationships with the Noes, who even attended the son's wedding.

The dirty tricks in Lucas Country started long before election day. For instance, the Democratic headquarters was broken into and key voter data was stolen.

I hope there is a real investigation over this, otherwise I forsee a lot of purging of voter rolls.
