(Bill) Clinton sees hope for Iraq
Former President Bill Clinton told Florida Democrats on Monday that Iraq's fledgling government would falter if the United States were to withdraw its troops.

He also said more terrorists could emerge from that region without an American military presence.

"The representative government there in Iraq is a hopeful sign," Clinton said at a fundraising reception for the Florida Democratic Party at the Orlando Marriott Downtown.

"But we need to stay there long enough for the politics to get worked out," he said. "If we withdrew tomorrow, that government couldn't survive."

4. Oh yeah, we still trust him...
nevermind his strange-love in the Bushes. Of course, we hope IRAQ succeeds... but we don't see the progress to indicate more of the same is going to make much difference. These people have been deeply at odds for centuries and only a dictatorship was able to repress their hatred for each other... and alas, Democracies are relatively fragile things--at least, so it appears (our own isn't doing so hot--and we have neither been invaded nor have opposing religions (to any similar degree)).

26. True - I heard that for years
but the recent Kissinger China letter showed that in 1972, Nixon and Kissinger just wanted a deal that there be a decent interval between when we left and and the inevitable fall of Saigon. Young Kerry was completely accurate in his charge that people were dying just to let politicians save face.

23. I love no politician and NAFTA plus his Senior Bush smoozing
has indicated to me ---> BOTH the Clinton and Bush Dynasties need to be put down.

Both Bubba and Hil best wake the f**k up and realize that, despite the Corporate Media's cheer-leading, the people will NOT elect Hillary Clinton as our next President.

Damn, what's wrong with these political cronies?

Sometimes I think that they believe the lies that our Corporate Cable media is spewing. :grr:

Go pick your blood money up from your corporate masters. And put your apron back on before Hillary gets pissed at you.
I couldn't care less about Iraq -- other than for the fact our kids (and not his) keep on dying there. Funny how that works.

15. He's just wrong; he's never been a great humanitarian to Iraq
Remember, he bombed them just because of a fledgling, maybe-not-even-true rumor of Saddam Hussein trying to assasinate Bush's father, killing dozens of people including a popular Arab actress.

I don't hate Bill or anything, but he's a US militarist like our President have always been.

19. Send Chelsea to fight, then, Bubba.
Or is it OK that working class kids and pressganged Guardsmen do all the dying?

Must be. Just as it must be OK that thousands of Iraqis are dead for this fantasy of "representative government." What are a few thousands more on top of the million kids you strangled with sanctions?

Clintonism: it's Bushism with more blowjobs.

And while I also agree it's time we acknowledged that this occupation was a mistake and needs to be ended per a specific timetable, I know of no elected Democrat who proposes leaving within 24 hours.

31. I've never ever been a Bill Clinton fan, but this makes me vomit.
He's fixing up Hillary's mess (supporting the IWR and continued support of the war), and he's also supporting an immoral war. More pandering to Republicans - sometimes it seems as if both Clintons know how to do nothing else. They certainly don't cater to their base.

35. Enough of the Clintons and Bushes
Had Big Dog divorced Hillary and married Monica in a Jewish ceremony, he could have moved to Israel and he would be Prime Minister by now and we wouldn't have to listen to his shit about "staying the course" in Iraq and watch him being such chum with Poppy Bush.

37. It doesn't matter how good a president he was
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 01:09 AM by PlanetBev
he is in no small way repsonsible for the right-wing death grip we now have on our government. When he dropped his drawers for that two-bit chippie, we lost what little we had left of the south and mid-west voters. He didn't think of his wife, his child, his vice-president, his party or his country. He left an honorable man like Al Gore looking like the piano player in a house of ill repute.

Then, after what the assholes on the right put him and the rest of the country through, he starts cuddling up the very crime family that stole the vote from his vice-president.

Thanks a lot, Bill.
