Maine soldier dies from apparent heart attack in Afghanistan
AUGUSTA, Maine — Another Maine soldier died in the war on terrorism, Gov. John Baldacci announced Thursday.

Capt. Patrick Damon of the Maine Army National Guard died from an apparent heart attack Thursday in Bagram, Afghanistan, Baldacci said. His death was not related to hostile fire, the governor said.

Damon, who was from Falmouth and had two young children, had taken leave from his job with the Maine Public Utilities Commission. He was serving in the Maine Guard´s 240th Engineer Group.

was and doing what he was doing contributed to his death, so even though he was not actually hit by a bullet or a bomb, his death WAS related to Dimson's war based on lies.

2. Very common occurrence
I talked to a medievac crew member who had been in Iraq and he said that half their flights were for heart attacks and heat exhaustion. Who the hell is used to humping around in 40 lbs of battle gear in the summer heat of Iraq? Then, add the stress of the environment (a freakin' war) and the fact that these guys are part time soldiers plucked out of places like Maine and its no wonder.

My sympathies to his family and while I would hate to have asked this young gentleman to be the last to die for this unjust war I pray that he is.

This is really sad! I'm sorry to hear it.

I wonder what caused the heart attack?
Maybe this?

'Others cope by using drugs, Millard says. Part of the problem is boredom.
"In Vietnam, you could at least go to Saigon and have a beer," he says.
"In Iraq, the Americans don't leave the base unless they're on a mission."

Millard says some troops use amphetamines to keep alert.
"Imagine driving around on patrol for 24 hours in 130 degree heat with no air conditioning."
