Boise, Idaho - A vigil commemorating the death of 2,500 soldiers in the Iraq invasion is underway on the Statehouse steps.
"We are gathered here because we must be here to witness the death and destruction of war in Iraq," said Mike Winter with the Idaho Peace Coalition.
The vigil began at 5 p.m. Friday and will continue until 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Idaho Peace Coalition is reading the names, ages and hometowns of all of the soldiers who have been killed in the war.
"Since we've reached this sad milestone, we think it's important to stop and contemplate the price of this war, and the sacrifice and weigh it against the benefits," said Winter.
The public is encouraged to show up at anytime during the vigil, to show their support.
"You can also take turns reading some of the names."
